Well, the first Suikoden was awesome game. Sure, the graphics were a bit outdated, and there wasn't even a different running animation for the hero. Seemed like a halfassed game when graphics are considered. Rest of the game however is a pure gem.

Suikoden 2 would have been a better game if there would not have been the first game. But as a sequel it was nothing all that special. Sort of like upgraded first Suikoden. It offered nothing new, just a facelift to the original game. I know that the story is based on some old folklore or whatever about the posse of 108, but some more variation would not have hurted the story.

Haven't played the third one.

Oh and btw eViL bAz, could you make your signature smaller? It's kind of weird to see posts where signature has more text than the actual post

GOTCHA!!!!!! I agree with you but with one exception the 2nd one was as good and has a mor firm story and with a lot of things to tie, (but a bad transalation) cuz the first one it was sssssooooooooooo Linear (ok I know that u would say but 2nd one was too linear) but give you more options and sidequest that make the game interest and like you side updated the info of the 1st one, that is my opinion of course

The first is my favorite.
I wish they would remake suikoden 1 for the ps2 and make it 3D like suikoden 3. That would be awesome.

I could'nt get all the stars for 2. Extreamly difficult. Even with the strategy guide. Have you guy's seen how much suikoden 2 and the strategy guide go for on e-bay. I loaned my strategy guide to a freind years ago and he lost it.
I could kick my self.

You have'nt played 3 yet kilu?
I have 2 dvd burned copy's. If you want I can send you one. Just PM me with a place to send it and Ill throw it in the mail tomarrow.
No mod-chip necessary. It can be loaded with the action-replay swap method.

Hey jet i have a good FAQ from the 108 stars from suikoden 2 in order of appearence, if u want it i can send it by mail, also what u was saying about the suikoden 1 I think the same but for the 1 and 2 imagine the trinity sight system (well here it would be Dual Sight System hehehe) in the second one, imagine play with the Hero and at the other hand paly with Jowy and see what happend with him after the get separete ways and over the Dunan Unification Wars, don't you think? it would be cool like the ending in the 3rd one i got all 108 stars and play the last one with the DESTROYERS

The third one was never released in Europe, if it would have, I would have probably played it. What's this action-replay swap method you talk about?

Thank's. I might take you up on that later eViLbAz because soon I will be playing all of the games again so I can get the stars from pt 1 save data and the stars from part 2 save data and see if It has any change in part 3. And mabey the save data will be used in part 4. But right now Im trying to finish other games like snake eater and berserk wich are frustrating me.

Long live the Holy Kingdom Of Harmonia!

Post edited because it was way to long and mabey illegal.

There are many variations to the swap trick. Im sure you've seen the flip top console shell they use to sell. It did the exact same thing. And also there's a clip on modchip that goes on the eject switch that also does the same. Opens the drive door into fooling the machine.
These methods are popular because The new 39000 and higher series of consoles are extreamly difficult to mod if not imposible.
For the mother lode of ps2 consoles that load just about every game are the 30001-R series. Any older and you have the defective lazer issue.
I have done tons of reserch.

I don't have action replay or anything similar Oh well.

If I ever feel the need to play NTSC games I will probably mod the machine. Peteju does modding, maybe I should ask him

I think the first one shouldn't be remade cause its 2D graphisms are part of it, it's what makes it unique, I think I wouldn't have the same pleasure re-playing it with new remade 3D graphics

Yes, I think redoing the graphics in a nicer 2D without losing the spirit could not harm the game

How could I resist.

Suikoden #1

Mind blowing from the start. The thought of 108 characters at one's disposal, surely the games greatest selling point. Add to that the refreshingness of a 16 bit graphic world in the age of 32 and I was lured into it's retroness. The ambient sound again is nice and backwards, and very Japanesy. As a lover of all things Japanese that and the names appealed to me, especially the in game "nouveau" of the french villages renamed by the twisted Milich Oppenheimer. The enemy was awesome, the "behind the scenes" bad guy was even better, giving one compassion over people such as Kwanda Rosman. But what really really made it for me, was that despite having 108 different characters, not to mention the NPCs, they managed to make each and every one of them unique, with their own stories, goals, and reasons for joining the Liberation army. This was further expanded with a brief ending for each and every one you'd recruited. Plus they brought us Clive, one of the coolest RPG characters ever.

Suikoden #2

First off, Luca Blight. Need I say more? What a fantastically evil villain. It's always hard for a company to make the bad guy someone you really really hate, but this worked fantastically. And the triple fight scene against him re-enforces just how powerful this guy is. A true masterpiece of character creation. The 108 stars again, all unique, even if some were from the previous game, this just made me like them more. The Star Dragon Sword making a second appearance was cool too. Neclord appearing again excited me at first, but I felt let down at how easy he was, he was after all the hardest boss in Suikoden #1. The unique unite system was still there, a godsend if ever there was one. The graphics, despite an upgrade, were still nicely retro to the eye. One or two characters could have used more padding, but the extra attention to clive was more than welcome. Richmond's theme music still makes me smile with delight, a beautiful piece. A little let down by the ending, and can;t touch the original, but still very very enjoyable. It's seen plenty of playtime in my machine.

Suikoden #3

Not played, hope to do so at some point.

I've only been playing Suikoden I and II (the only ones that had been realeased in France... Yes, I'm a Frenchie ^_^) and I'm really found of them. Suikoden is one of the few games where you have always something to discover.
The second one is my favourite, I think it is the one where the character's personnality are the most intersting even if Jowy is the video game character I hate the most, along with Ramza from FFTactics.
