Sooooo... Did you guys still need a site redesign?

Was a while since I was last here, which was about when you guys were talking about redesigning the site, and in need of some help.

I just looked at your site... Is that your own Digg style news aggregator?

The thing about the redesign is that we would actually need to get ahold of Locke on a more regular basis. All he does these days is play maple story with his free time. Crazy dude. Infact, I think we would really need to sit down and plan a whole future for the site, because redesign, while very much needed, is only part of the process. The whole site needs a big jolt to get it going again.

Yeah, the site needs a serious uplifting. I said it before and I say it again that I can help in making Graphic Stuff for the site and help wherever needed.

I say look at some open source templates like Joomla, advertise a bit. Boast some new stuff and get people running in here. This site hosts way too much stuff to be left like this. C'mon lazy admins, get working!!!.

Why do not ask Locke to let Kilu or Bama to administer the project and start the project, I understand that he (as some of us) are busy and do not have time to work on the site, but I think that if you gather some people with good PS abilities as well as PHP, well it could do the trick ^^

We've been here before. Problem is, among other things, the "people with good PS abilities as well as PHP" have a tendency to disappear.

For example, if you check his profile, Hex hasn't logged in since he made his post.

Damn i wish I could help with PHP, but my knowledge is very limited, but I could help with PS

I think, for the moment anyway, we have the PHP part covered well enough with Locke (even if he isn't around that much) and Laban. It's design part that (atleast partially) keeps us from going forward. Anyone with design ideas should try to get ahold of Locke and pitch in some of those ideas. At one point he was planning to have the site divided in three sections, left menu, right sidebar for polls and stuff, and the middle area for whatever. Work from there I guess?


Also, what do you folks think, does RPGN need a new focus? Game music isn't as rare as it was way back when, and with sites like Galbadia Hotel and Kingdom Hearts Insider, FTP servers are kind of a thing of the past.

Yes, I think Rpgamers needs a new Focus. Like Game Soundtrack Reviews, a Shop (really!!) and Album Art aside from the FTP servers we have here. A really good and attractive site design can do that. I also thought once that if one can incorporate iTunes Store search into the site, that would really kick things off.

I'm gonna do a layout thing here anyway, if I manage to create anything decent I'll try to contact ye all.

As for the enw direction of the site, I agree about game soundtrack reviews, but I don't really think it needs a new way that badly...it could work to jsut make some banners and advertise. =p
