Persona is a pretty fun game, I've personally played Persona 3 and 4 on the PS2. It kinda meshes 2 different genres together, a dungeon crawler and a social sim. Both are good games, try them out.

The Persona games are fantastic. Persona 1 and 2 are are old school dungeon crawlers, they aren't really my cup of tea but Persona 2 I know has a great story. Persona 3 and 4 are the games a suggest you play. Like shockelite said they are dungeon crawlers mixed with a social sim and more accessible. Persona 3 is challenging and in my opinion has the better story. Persona 4 is a bit easier and has better characters then Persona 3. Both have great soundtracks and the voice acting is well done. If you have a Playstation Vita I recommend buying the rereleases of the games Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4: Golden. P3P adds a female main character you can play as and gives you the ability to control your party members in battle, which you couldn't do in the original release. The only big downside is you can't play the extra episode called The Answer that was added in Persona 3: FES. Persona 4: Golden adds a new character, bonus dungeon, more character events, and a plethora of costumes your party members can wear in battle.

I really enjoy these games if you have any question I'll answer them best I can and if you buy a persona game tell me which one, I'm interested. ^_^

Edit: Also all persona games are available on PSN in one form or another. Just thought I should add that. :P
