Help with Star Ocean 1 for SNES9x v1.41-1

So...all in one night I decided to find out what Star Ocean 1 was like...then I found out about ROMs and Emulators...then I downloaded the Star Ocean ROM and the SNES9x v1.41-1....and the game works..and the sounds works...but I just have one question...Are the graphics supposed to look like vomit? I can see my little character guy walking along but he just looks like a square of different colored bits. I can tell that I'm in some sort of room..and I can move around...the sound is fine, and when there are talk boxes and what not they look fantastic...but everything is just one big blotchy vomity looking mess. Is this right?

Star Ocean plays better on ZSNES (http://www.zsnes.com/). I don't remember if there is a special thingamajig that is needed for Star Ocean to play on snes9x. Just get the latest (1.50) ZSNES and you should be good to go. If you still get corrupted imagery, the rom is probably busted.
