Are you by any chance behind a router or switch? I think Blade is using bpftp and has a disabled server to server traffic. Sometimes users behind routers/switches see this error because of this. As far as I know, only way around it is to convince Blade to disable the FXP, bounce attack option.

You could try passive mode, because it does work a bit differently as far as ip goes.

Hello,

I was working with the mirror operator of 6, and I too encounter this problem. We tried various setting changes but were unable to find a solution. Anyone using no router/firewall can get in fine, but since both he and I have firewall/router settings, we couldn't make the two connections like each other no matter what we did.

You are not alone ;) I don't know if he will find a workaround for this, but I will let him know that others are reporting the same problem. We thought maybe it was me specifically... cause I just have that kind of luck :P

I was finally able to get around this problem by using FileZilla FTP Server instead of BPFTP Server (G6). Only drawback is there aren't really any statistics options or extra info on how long someone has been logged in, what all they've downloaded, etc.

Not scriptable / plugins for it either?

Bama: Your server need to know what the external IP is. I'm sure I've seen such an option in G6/BP where you can set it manually or have it do a DNS lookup of some hostname.

Same goes for Phosu really. You need to tell your FTP client what IP you're really using since 192.168.x.x are internal IP-addresses. Seen such an option in various FTP clients, can't remember the windows ones though. Perhaps FlashFXP can.

So now that both server and client knows what IP they should be using for communication, both PASV and PORT should work (you might want to open a few ports in the routers as well). :tophat:

Affirmative.

If bpftp is setup correctly (and windows too) there should be no problems on any systems.

I messed with it for hours one time. I know where you're talking about. I set the same options in FileZilla Server and voila, worked like a charm. For whatever reason, G6 just didn't want to work for me, even after I gave it my external ip and set the port forwarding, etc.

I prefer ProFTPd (http://www.proftpd.org/) ;)

I have it do whatever I want it to do, mostly. It should work under Windows if you use Cygwin, or so I've heard. Didn't you have some probs with Win32 anyways? It's time to look around for a better option *points at the penguins (http://www.slackware.com/)*
