View Full Version : Questions most may not want to answer
So everyone enjoys asking people questions however most questions get answers that don't really tell you anything about a person. So in this thread some questions will be presented that will generally tell everyone what type of human you really are. Of course anyone who feels they have a good question can feel free to throw it in. I'll get us started . . .
Question #1 - How much money would have to be offered to you before you would dispose of someone by rack (for those of you who aren't familiar with the rack, it is that lovely device from olden days that stretched you apart)? Keep in mind you are the one operating the device and you shall get no ear plugs as that would stop you from hearing the screams. And as for the person in the rack, we'll just say it is some random person off the street, they have a spouse and a dog name Jack, but no kids. You will not be punished for your crime just rewarded.
As a special bonus you can have the option to give all your money away (so bankruptcy to put it simply) in order to save the life.
#1 - I would require at least $1,000,000 as it would sustain me (hopefully) the rest of my life. I think that is reasonable (immoral as it may be), a life taken to support my own.

I don't have that much money yet, so I guess getting bankrupted won't do me any serious harm. I'd rather spend it all and saving that person's life afterwards, so that I don't "lose" a cent :D
Living one's life with $99,999,999,999,999 or whatever must be tragically boring, anyway. Work is precisely what makes free time enjoyable, isn't it ? :)

no amount of money could make me harm another for this reason.
I would do it for free however if a person is guilty of a heinous crime perhaps, no other reason

There really is no amount of money that could ever erase the amount of shame or guilt that would disease my mind. Sure, he was just a random guy I've never met in my life. That's irrelevant, in my opinion. What his crimes or good deeds were is immaterial.
The fact that money and anonymity are being offered does not come into play, in my mind. The reason being is this: I would rather suffer a wrong than commit one. Material wealth will never buy back my peace of mind, nor erase the echo of his dying screams in my ears. And it does not matter to me who he is. I won't kill him not because of who he is, but rather because of who I am. And I am not a torturer nor a murderer.
As a special bonus you can have the option to give all your money away (so bankruptcy to put it simply) in order to save the life.
I think I would do it. I can always rebuild, I guess. Sure, there's always the chance I might never recover, but I'd rather eat maggots from the dumpster and sleep under a bridge with a clear conscience than eat fine meat and sleep on my own private island with the nightmares of the man's death ringing in my head.

Kai...you are ssssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccccccckkkkkkkk!!!...: )...just kidding.
For the sake of question...Why? Really, I think its stupid.
It was very early and I hadn't slept, the sun started coming up and some strange things crept into my mind. All well, I still enjoy seeing the answers of others to the question. You basically find out if someone would sacrafice a human life for financial gain. With everything you see on television and in the news you sometimes wonder if everyone wouldn't take an oppurtunity such as the one I asked.
In my mind I wonder if the situation came up if I could actually go through with it. The answer is no but it was a hypothetical question so that is beside the point, but I sure would like to have some extra cash.

What if it weren't just cash, but some kind of scarce resource? Or more generally, what if you were to use the reward for the benefit of mankind rather than mere personal gain?
If it were possible to permanently end suffering altogether through the killing of one man, wouldn't it be more selfish not to kill him?

In that case I would have to do it. I always put the emphasis on majority, and if 1 man could make that kind of difference so be it.

Where would you draw the line? How much good would have to be done for it to outweigh the death?

There can't be any. You can't weigh a human live. I think this is the interesting thing about the question, you can not give a general statement. As kai said, we get to know each other. :)
Personally I can not say what I would do. And to be honest, I think nobody can.
Rationally I'd like my answer to be negative, how huge the amount of money may ever be.

if 1 persons death meant all suffering was gone in the world, then I have to be on the sid eof killing that one person...it sounds pretty shit to the 1 person, and hell, it is pretty evil to that person but weighing it up, its a mercy to billions
But it is hypothetical and can never happen so is pointless question;)

As to the first question about financial gain.- Never, and to second part about giving up money to save the life. If I knew I could still turn to family and such to help me get back up on my feet yes.
As to the second, one life vs the mass. yes, how far would I go. 49/51 Yes If I had to wipe out 49% of the population so that the 51% could live in peace I would.

For Example... I would not take a moment to do that if it were Bush's life at stake. You don't give me nothing or even do the same to me after that, I wouldn't care one bit...honestly.
