IRC Chat Server Status: ONLINE

This thread will be updated with information on the Magicite IRC server status. We will try to post information as to why it is down as soon as we know whats going on.

The torrent tracker is back up, and considering they are (or atleast they were) hosted in the same box, irc may not be far behind. But I have no real information on the matter, juts guessing here. :p

Yes, services are back up finally. Torrents were restored first, as those come back up as soon as the server is restarted. IRCd however requires being launched manually, and was not done until I was back home Thursday evening.

For future note to Laban, its in /usr/home/ircd ;) (and /services5 )

The new modem and cable line is in place, and we hope to be back and stable for good.

The server went poof when Locke tried to reboot it today. Hopefully the new server will be up and running sooner than later.

We need a fallback position (backup irc server/channel) to all hang out in when prolonged outtages occur! I'm already having withdrawals.

We are aware of this problem, our old server died before the new one was ready to take over. We are working as quickly as possible to restore services, on a new box / ip / software. <.< Lots to do, so little time!

The new server is now running and some of us have already found our way back. The dns update might take a while longer, but direct ip works. The server is at 24.150.45.19 right now. irc.magicite.net and other dns entries will work sometime later. :)

1. Download mIRC, latest version.
2. Configure your username and stuff. Click OK.
3. Type (no quotes) "/server irc.magicite.net" in the status window. hit enter.
4. Once connected, a rooms list will pop up. Enter in the box #RPGN and hit join.
5. Say hi, and idle with us!

A more in-depth mIRC configuration may be offered, or a pre-configured client, in the future. Once we get things back in order. As always, you can use the web-based version to ask for help as well.

IRC Server Update(s):

Currently experiencing some connectivity issues due to local road work. Should be resolved within a few hours.

Also, we are aware that the web version of our chatroom (the java chat) is not functioning. This is not the user-end, but a problem at the server side. We are working to resolve this, or maybe even offer a new option for chatting. Stay tuned.

The magicite network was down for approximately 9 hours today due to unexpected problems with the service provider. Everything has been restored and things are back up and running.

Also, the java chat feature on the site has been repaired.

Due to unforeseen problems with the ISP connections, IRC and Torrent Tracker services became unavailable as of 8:30AM EST this morning. We have booked a technician call and hope to be back up and running by tomorrow afternoon.

It still isn't up. I think this is the longest I've seen the server go down(well that I can remember). Although I used to have the same problems with comcast, and more frequently. Oh well, I'll be waiting patiently :)

The server only has issues when I try to sleep. What the heck? I'm cursed.

Something happened at the ISP, I'm not sure what exactly... but they have forced an IP rotation. I've updated the DNS records, and everything should come back online as soon as your DNS cache refreshes. The new server IP for the tracker and irc is 24.36.29.183
