I recently (today) bumped into this, again, and as I now I have slightly better computer and I don't need all the machine power all the time, I decided to install this, again.

Now, why I brought it up in here, is that if there enough people who do this, we could make RPG group maybe? Or use Charon's Riskbreakers group. How's that? What do you guys think?

I need to reinstall SETI again. I beleive my Riskbreakers group is still there.

Yes, it is, and I'm still a member :p Though I made a new account because I couldn't remember how the damn thing worked. Oh well. So, if anyone cares, Riskbreakers (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/team/team_178917.html) is the group for you. Because the name rocks :)

edit: and btw, eventhough the group still holds Kilu as a member, I quitted with that name, and when the page is updated, I'm the user Mika. For that is my name.

edit2: and I'm really wondering how long will it take for the page to be updated. Still no Mika there.

And I might add that if that group isn't updated soon I will be making my own group :p I have no idea what I might call it though.

I meant to say in the channel and then in here - Once I get my desktop machine up and running again I'll take a look at it. I Running it on my laptop won't do much good, and neither will putting it on my work machine. Too many users, too little screen saver time, etc.

too little screen saver time

I never use the screensaver option, I just keep it working in the backround(systray) when I'm not doing anything that needs all the processor power. For example now, while I'm only browsing, listening music and IRCin, it's on. But when I emu PSX or play some FPS maybe, it's off.

I'm already a member of SETI since 2 months ago but I can leave my account for sometime and do some units for the RPG group :)

Just tell me what's the name is :)

The page has finally updated. Hooray. Had some issues with connection and couldn't send results back to seti. Works now though.

Yeah it was already updated for me, showed you up. It's just the seti servers that are slow. Anyways, I intend to keep going with SETI classic until they shut it down. It appears our Riskbreakers group should already be available for BOINC SETI which I will start on once the classic servers shut down.

Thats some fast processing kilu, you running the CLI version?

Kilu

CLI version? I have no idea what that is :) I run the regular Seti@Home classic in the backround. As it's minimized, it wont waste the processing power for drawing the graphics.

edit: CLi version is the command line version I assume.

CLi is the command line, runs much faster than the gui (graphical user interface) that is SETI classic. I also run minimized but even with that, screensaver disabled (speeds up massively, shaved 10 hours off my WUs), monitor switched off and me not using it I still take around 6 hours per WU. These days it's only running while I'm online, which often means on counter strike, which means 15 hour WU's. :P

I'm running an AMD athlon XP 1700 if that matters, you probably have a bit more "oomph".

Yeah, I used to have some old snotpump of a machine, which would have taken months to analyze one pack, but right after I built this new one(Athlon XP 2400+, ASRock K7S8X, 512RAM) I decided to reinstall Seti, because now I actually had some power to run it :) Maybe I should try that command line, because it's not like I really need those damn ugly graphics :)

Graphics are cool. But running cli you will get less than 2 hour WUs.

Well, as all SETI classic credit no longer counts I've moved to Boinc. All user names and teams are carried over so when you activate your boinc account http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/
you will still be part of Team Riskbreakers. I've already racked us up some credit, so make the switch and lets get searching. :D
PS the nice graphics are gone :(
If interested I have it set to find work every 2 days, I end up with 4-6 hour WUs.

Maybe I should switch to boinc then. I quit doing research for the classic when I had some issues with connection, and haven't continued yet.

edit: Because my newer account was created before the datachange, it wasn't there, so I just created new one and joined the group :)
