Various terms you may see on the tracker, and what they mean.

CBR = constant bitrate
VBR = variable bitrate
ABR = average bitrate
GR = game rip
OST = original soundtrack
OSV = original sound version
FMV = full motion video

Feel free to add more as you think of them. Once we have compiled a nice list I will make a page for the terms on the tracker itself.

WAV = A raw audio file format.
MP3 = You all know what this is.
LAME = mp3 encoder, the thing that you can use to turn raw wav files to mp3s.
EAC = Exact Audio Copy, an awesome music ripping software.

Couple more commonly used LAME command line presets.

alt-preset standard (APS) bitrate averaging around 200kbps
alt-preset extreme (APX)bitrate averaging around 240~250kbps

Actually APX isn't all that common, but I use it because I'm Elite™. :tophat:

Some I could think of.

Just like to point out that even if you DO happen to see a WAV file it doesnt mean its the original CD Quality, its not hard to convert Mp3 to Wav for the false appearance... if your interested in CD Copies look for a CUE sheet, or wait untill someone posts a CCD (Clone CD) Image file, those are your most likely candidates for being the actual CD.

While we are on the subject, there are other ways to make noncd-quality wavs than decoding from mp3.

But the same stands, WAV doesn't necessarily mean original cd quality.

Well said, so lets *HOPE* that no one wastes anyones time by posting Non-Original CD quality wavs

*takes his brand new ffxpiano collections cd and rips 8bit, 22khz wavs, encodes in 320cbr, and decodes in 44khz wavs*

A fine quality I say!

AST - Arranged Soundtrack
^not the original music as you would here in Game play, but an Arrangement of the original music.
Ogg Vorbis - Patent Free OpenSource Audio Compression Format
^http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogg
SRT - Soulseek Repossession Team
^ignore this, just a tag ment to identify an upload from SRT. If it means anything, it means that the uploader did RIAA certification research on the album and distributes it in the package. It does, but does not always mean, that the upload is ripped personally by an SRT member. http://vortexvein.net/srt/
OVA - Original Video Animation
^High Budget animation but with no motion picture appeal but still in a much higher quality than if it were on television.
KBPS - KiloBits Per Second
KBit/s - KiloBits Per Second

I invented by own code system for soundtracks, since there are contradicting ones and they don't cover all my needs.:w00t:
