Might be a thread that should be better posted in the serious discussions thread, methinks.

Meh, my 2 cents on it are....

The Devil and God might exist, they may not... Assuming they both do and all biblical crap is true, then the very existance of Satan is contradictory to the preachings of the bible. According to the bible all sins can be forgiven, yet Satan supposidly commited a sin against god and can't be forgiven by it.... :wonder:

Read Age of Reason by Thomas Paine. If you are interested in questions like this you'll consider the book very educational

Moved.

Also, rules are in the FAQ (http://rpgamers.info/faq.php?). Maybe I should bug Locke Cole to change the text to FAQ/Rules or something. :D

I personally dislike the idea of a god or a satan though I do remark quite a bit about both, so I really don't know if satan could be forgiven by god, well i suppose he could because everything can be forgiven by anyone if they try.... but I personally don't care too much due to my own beliefs:wacky: ...(sorry if I offended anyone):emlaugh:

I for one only believe in what i see.. whiich is why i am wiccan...i do believe in a higher power...but i also like for my higher power to be able to show it's power in material form...personally i think the bible in all forms is a book of contradictions and exagerations...can the devil be forgiven by god....christians arn't suposed to believe in the devil... so it is a moot point then isn't it? however i think that if it ever came down to it i would like to answer a question with another question ,if god is almighty and all powerfull can he create a rock that even he himself can not lift...ponder that for awhile because ever possible answer proves wrong one of the two above statements

Bible, for many reasons, can not be believed in anymore. As there is alot of conflict and flaming on this topic, I will not say much. Anybody interested in finding out the true answers can go to sites like http://www.harunyahya.com and any stuff you can find with the name of Zakir Naik will be very useful on these discussions.

I think all of you have completely missed the point of the topic. If you guys want to carry out bible-bashing, go start another thread "Bible Bashers United" or something, because that's all I see is happening. Doesn't anyone know what "Intellectual Debate" means? If you don't believe in the existence of the devil and don';t believe in Christianity, and can't be bothered to find out more in order to respond within the framework of his question, then why post in the first place?

Furthermore, I thought we were supposed to respect each others' beliefs here in this forum. Therefore, things like "all the crap in so-and-so's religion" and other derogatory statements should NOT be posted in the first place.

In my opinion, the devil CAN be forgiven by God, because He can do whatever He wants, but since God gives free will to all, He doesn't have to as the devil won't fulfill the requirements for forgiveness.

I suggest that this thread be locked if no one is going to respond to the question appropriately.

I agree with you there oneforthelord. I already noticed that the question was really interesting but I was not willing to answer it....

I'm going to have to agree with oneforthelord, sure I'm no big fan of any religion (I'm still working things out, as to what I belive in) but I still respect other's choices to believe in what they want. I also believe that most people in their younger years (IM0 30 and under, circumstances can change) don't have a strong enough grasp on the world yet to understand what they believe or what others believe, and that's where I think the conflict is emerging in this thread.

But hey, that's just my opinion, but when you try and have a mature discussion with someone who doesn't undertand both sides of the discussion, it is like arguing with a child, to narrow minded to even grasp at the possibility that they may be wrong.

To go against the string of what is listed here appology-wise, everything I stated was my own opinion. I won't appologise for what I said, as I base my opinion of a heavy catholic background, I've read the bible cover to cover, read various other text's on religion's of the world, and personally look at the bible as impossible to have happened the way it did. The bible itself is a book of contradictions. While I do believe in God at some level, I just can't believe the bible itself could be holy writ as it contradicts itself. And yes, while God does work on many mysterious levels, the bible, IMO, is not an accurate representation of god's will/work.

Note: Everything stated above is in my opinion and is my own personal beliefs. If anyone would like to get into a more serious intellectual debate on this I would be more then happy to defend my opinions or expand on them, depending. However, I don't want to need to defend myself because I made the statement the bible is impossible to have happened in the way it happened. While this isn't to say these events never happened, as they must have happened somewhat along those lines so's to spark the tales that were passed down (and, I'm sure, growing with every telling as any verbal tale will do) and eventually recorded. Anyways, I don't want to bother writing too much about it now, as it would end up becoming a long long post. If anybody want's to dispute any of my statements (I don't mind, honest. I love to debate so's long as it can be backed up by either logic or documentation) just send me a PM.

Note 2 : For what it's worth, my use of the word crap was meant to engulf something that I'm not in agreement with, not in a derogetory manner. For what it's worth, I'll try not to use slang when making a post on the intelligent thread in the future.

It doesn't matter if you feel like you need to state your own beliefs or opinions about religion. It wasn't the question that was asked. I'm locking this thread. If anyone wants to debate religions, make a thread for it. Though in my experience all religion debates always end up in flames, so I advice against it.
