Doom3 is cool I just got it yesterday and I've been dreaming of it last night and even the night before.

Creepy dream about a mancubus being the reincarnation of peter pan after sacrificing himself and he went to hell. I met him in a subway terminal with comic book stands with no way out.

I have always had wierd dreams about Doom. Especially the one that was a preminision of 6 years before it happened.

It was a dream about a level and I remember it vividly; last year I saw the custom level that i saw in the dream!

I have little visions everynow and then even of doom3. there was a part I was playingyesterday that i had seen in my dream the previous night.

I have a wierd connection with doom.

Well, with Doom 3 being the new hype, I'm bound to try it out atleast once. It has had good things said about it so far in our chatroom, but we shall see....

:D That pretty much sums up my sentiments as well. I was never a huge Doom fan - I appreciated the series and all - I just never became mindlessly addicted as with a few other games. :spin:

Hope you have a pretty decent system to play it!

So says C|NET, anyway. ;) (http://news.com.com/%27Doom+3%27+may+doom+users%27+current+systems/2100-1043_3-5295390.html?tag=nefd.pop)

:nana: Screw that then. I have the RAM, but little else, and I will never pay to upgrade my PC solely for a game. :p

So there :) As for myself, I will test it out, but I'm afraid that my Radeon may choke on it.

It's pretty good and if you run it at 640 X 480 with low quality settings on it still looks great. They managed to get it to look god on the lower settings.

My system is an Athlon 2000+, 768 PC2100 DDR ram, 9700 Pro.
And I run it at 1024 X 768 with high texture quality settings. It looks good.

The game doesn't need AA so don't bother tryingto use it it'll just slow down your computer.

There are a few performance tweaks out there. Just goto planetdoom.com look through th forums for doom3 help section and then goto page 1 of common problems with doom3 and they have a few performance tweaks there.

I'm off to play it again so Buh Bye se you in a few hours.

Yeah, I'm having a great time with it. Those tweaks help tremendously. Get them.

Well... I don't like it.
Getting the latest graphic drivers help, I'm told, with performance.

Tested it, Radeon 9200 can't handle it. It works, but is barely playable :( Oh well, fo rthe time being I just have to play some rtcw.

Well, I already know that my computer will not handle this game. FPS's is my favorite type of gaming genre, and I know I'll enjoy this game. Although I like pc versions of games(multiplatform) more than console versions, I'll probably have to settle for the XBox version of this. Certainly nothing wrong with that though!

it tough to find Out that the game that Sparked a Genre is almost impossible to play at economy settings

the game that Sparked a Genre
:wonder: Wouldn't that be Castle Wolfenstein? :spin:

i think doom 3 would be perfect if it had a multi player option agree?

It does have multiplayer you dunce.

Thats half the game nowadays to have multiplayer of some sort. They do havea drawback to it though there is a four player limit to the deathmatches.

It's just not very popular because of hardware lag. Its such a hardware intesive game that if you run it at any quality settings with a lower end pc you get incredible lag in multiplayer. I certainly can't play it online but lan games aren't out of the question because of the transfer rate is much higher even on a 10mbs per second limit compared with a modem of any sort.

Although the four player limit has already been circumvented by a mod or two.

They churn out little tweaks like crazy.

It would be even cooler if more FPS would have multiplayer story mode. Only ones I can think of are MoH Rising Sun... and the original Doom? I think it had one, or atleast some sort patch for it.

Deathmatches are fun and everything, but multiplayer story mode would be even cooler.

a lot of FPS's have a co-op mode... halo's was excellent, in my opinion.

Kilu

Define 'a lot'.

Halo is only one.

bah, c'mon...

aside from medal of honor, doom, and halo... there was perfect dark, quake 2 (don't know about q1), the rainbow six series, serious sam, south park (meh, running out of ideas)... i haven't played all of those, but that's all i can think of.

Kilu
08-11-2004, 05:51 PM
And now I'm satisfied :p But still, there should be MORE MORE MORE!

As for my lack of knowledge... I haven't played any of those, except the ones I mentioned myself earlier :)

:D Opinion seconded. If I were to complain about anything in Halo, it would be the too-similar level designs in some areas. :spin:

:D Opinion seconded. If I were to complain about anything in Halo, it would be the too-similar level designs in some areas. :spin:yeah, i had a big problem with that intergalactic library or whatever it was... it was *so* boring... and that gay robot that floated around... ugh.

well i never understood the story in halo :emlaugh: well, a bunch of aliens come, so you have to kill them. then more aliens come, so you have to kill those too. then you have to blow up the giant thing that kills all the aliens because... in essence... we're all aliens deep down on the inside. o.o

Nice and confusing.

The floating gay blue ball ,as i like to call him, is trying to destroy all life in the galexy with any intelligence because of an alien race that they wanted to study instead of destroy. This race can destroy the universe so they esentially screwed us all when they decided to study them. You must stop him and this race.

Halo 2 has nothing to do with a ring. Just saving earth's ass!

I do look forward to playing halo2 since i liked halo so much. But i really want to see hl2 first.
