View Full Version : Quick Reminder - Kyari's FTP
Kyari

Just a quick reminder I feel obliged to post in case anyone's forgotten it . . .
I still have an FTP server up there, and will hopefully for decades to come.
Address: ftp.kyari.net
Username: kyari
Password: vgmusic
Port: 21
The advantage about this server is that there are no logon limits - you're allowed to do as much as you like. This is because I don't have the access to set limits :D . It is always on. You can also upload to it as you see fit.
The bad news is that if you leech too much . . . because it isn't completely as free as you'd think . . . it will magically disappear. So don't abuse or be banished!
And please! Upload! That's what it's there for! :D

:wonder: Hrm... Maybe in order to keep it up, you should take the address down, and only give it out to a few people. :spin:

It's no big deal. All I'm worried about is someone sitting there all day downloading stuff. That's what'll result in problems. I'm a rather trusting person. But, make no mistake, if people screw around, they will be removed.

:wonder: So which is the worst scenario?
~ high bandwidth consumption
~ prolonged connection times (as in myriad transfers, etc)
~ or high storage usage
I mean, the best way we can protect this resource is to know which behaviors to most avoid. :bouncy:

High bandwidth consumption over a short period of time. I would limit downloads to like 5-10 albums a session.
Uploads are not an issue, though  .
yeah the banana has spread
sorry for posting in here with nothing to contribute to the topic but i read the threads and soon as i saw kyari post the banana (after just mentioning it to him over the phone earlier) i had to comment.

:wonder: You mean this banana  ? Methinks Locke should add it to the emoticons. :spin:
:offtopic:
the banana is just too wacky not to be party of the regular life of rpgn posts . . .. . . . well mine anyways heh heh

you still haven't shifted my soulblade osv? hmmm you gonna keep it?
do you leave everything uploaded where it stands or will it be added to ur osv collection?
Kyaris server is usually left as it is. I think Zedie did some rearranging for it a while back, but it has been messed up again after that.
It seems that you don't know, so I'll tell you :) Kyaris server is not in his own machine, I think it's in his workplace. That's how I have understood it. And that is the reason why he can't say anything exact on the usage.

:D I've been meaning to clean it up again, and did even move one soundtrack to its proper place, but so many people started user specific folders that I wasn't sure if I should rearrange them... :spin:
I started a user specific folder as well, seemed like a trend that I had to follow :)

Kyari's server is fast and easy to access, lets hope the majority of our leechers don't ever see this post :p I got Sound Test 6 off him recently, great speeds.
Thanks Kyari :)

Fortunately for us all, Kyari's server is available even though he's far from it & home. Many thanks to his former employers! Even though I work with many of their former employees who said it sucks to work there. http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/bawl.gif Now that I've found the *real* password, I'll be on his ftp more.

In cas you haven't noticed yet, Kyari's not on the forums anymore but in a mission in Australia. The purpose of his FTP is not to gain more albums but to help the members of these boards share music and request rare stuff.
Since Kyari's FTP is hosted by his employer, it may be shut down if everyone starts downloading everything. Just be reasonable and use it for uploading only when someone asks for an album that you have (or if you have something to submit for the Sound Test -> see Kilu's sig for more details :D )

Your FTP said login incorrect
I can login just fine, but all the files are gone. Kyaris server is dead. Too bad.

what should happen thats strange??
Well, Kyaris server was provided by his employer. Since Kyari no longer works in there (on a mission in Aussieland), it was only a matter of time before the files got taken down. Sad day nevertheless.

Sure it was only a matter of time since they put it to rest...
too bad - it was quite useful for collecting the Sound Test submissions...
^^ well, there are other ways, like AIM.
Big thanks to Kyari for setting it up and leaving it open when he left :)
