Like the title says I would like to make discussion of money and greed. I got the idea when I heard a song called It's all about the money. " it's all about the money and I don't think it's funny" this is how it went.
Since I am currently a student and don't have too much money to spent I'm not one of those overpaid people but I have thought that am I may be when I graduate. The minimum salary for an engineer who has just graduated is something like 2500€ and it gets bigger all the time. Now I feel that how an earth will I even be able to spent so much money.
I don't want to become one of those people that think it's the money that counts. It's possible that money is the thing that destroys human kind. When you begin to think about it money and greed is involved in those things that are doing harm to people. Pollution for example is nothing but companies trying to make as much profit as they can.
Then there is those tv-series that have a prize (usually money) and people trying to get their hands on it. People get crazy when it comes to getting some money.

I mentioned few ideas above but I don't want to limit the discussion too much. I think everyone have their own opinions debending on their backgrounds. Feel free to give you're own opinion about greed and money.

I've always told my friends that I thought money was the worst invention of mankind. They usually give me funny looks. Most of them are lawyers.

IMO, if we could all just work not for money, but for the greater good of mankind, we'd all be much, much, much better off.

 Good one BJP :D

Well, I'm in the same case as you, Vidus, but I'm starting to realize that when you have food, housing and transportation to pay, money gets spent real quick :p
Apart from this, I agree on saying that nowadays' world is more or less being corrupted by money issues, at global and local scales. That's a fact and I don't think we can move backwards :(

well sorry there guys, im in it for the MONEY.

i believe that if you have enough money why not just sit on your backside and not do a thing ever its better than doing hard graft for a pittance, if you had loads of money you could simply spend it on leisure time and also the girls love money dont theyhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

i wanna win the Lottery and that would make my life a dream, i mean if i got bored i could simply get a job anyway to pass a bit of time,

MONEY MONEY MONEY, ALWAYS SUNNY, IN A RICH MANS WORLD

I wish that Maxim had links to thier articles online, because in this month's issue, there's a great article about how most lottery winners [at least in US] have thier lives ruined by winning the lottery. Do I think that this will happen to everyone who wins? No. But it certainly makes me thinks that money helps bring along just as many, if not more, problems than solutions.

That being said, of course, if I won the lottery, I'd be elated. I'd get to pay my bills and help out my family members. If they could handle only getting a certain amount and not realize I'm a money tree, then were straight. I would give a lot of it to charity, since I don't need that much [current jackpot in MI is like 204$ US millions, after taxes and lump sum payout, it gotta be closer to 90]. It would just not be fun having people asking for money evey day, people threatening to steal your money, taxes, liers, and the assorted others.

And if girl only wants me becasue I have money, then I don't need her. Maybe as a maid, but not as a partner.

I'm clad you are feeling like that.http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/smile.gif
I've thought that when I graduate and get a job I would donate every month some of my salary to charity. It wouldn't have to be a lot of money but if I would donate little every month it would help someone in need.
To me it's quite easy to live having just little money. I think it's because of my background. I have grown up in a family that always had a lack of money. I didn't go to driving school because it's so damn expensive but haven't been in a situation yet where having a drivers licence would be needed. I haven't ever been into those things that are in. (despite the ice hockey cards when I was a kid). My mobilephone is so crappy that you wouldn't believe me if I told you but it has all I need. I can phone with it ans sms with it.
This girls loving money matter then. I haven't ever understand the shopping thing they do. Yeah, girls like money why would those really old billioners else have such a beutiful girls around them. I don't want to generalize, I think there are lots of girls that doesn't care too much of the money. I hope I can meet someone of those girls someday and if she would be a sporty girl I would be soo glad.http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

well i would probably invest some money into a company, and i would give to charities which help out my own town first, you know what the saying is "charity starts at home".

well to be honest now, i would love to win the lottery but instead i would love to make a fortune on my own by building a succesful company which makes millions, and then i would have an early retirment and enjoy the remainder of my life with a huge wallet in my pockethttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Some of my friends are constantly asking that how an earth can I manage with so little money per day.http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/confused.gif I think it is because of our different backgrounds that make them think so. I went to buy food today with a friend of mine and was amazed that he spent almost three times the money I did. We both bought food supplements for a day.
I also have wanted to know one thing about those rappers in the States. They usually come from poor families or that's what always say. Then when they become famous and get too much money they spent it on bling bling and all of that. Do they forget their past?? I would first help those people I grew with in the slums but no they just buy Hummers and all that crap. I guess it's the same thing with most of the celebrities. Money makes people odd.
I hope this thread is still alive when I graduate and get my hands on those huge salaries. I haven't had a change to prove that money doesn't mean so much for me because I haven't ever really had so much of it. Will be posting then and we will see how have the money changed mehttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/smile.gif It takes atleast four years but I will post then if I remember.

i dont think lots of money will change my personality.....well maybe only slightly, but i8t would be nice to have a little spare money lying around to do as you wish with it, im sure everone wants a little more money.

and your right, celebrities love showing off how much money they make and it pisses me off, it turns them odd. Look at Bam Margera for instance he destroys his house and cars and everything, its just throwing money away, also i love Viva La Bam its one of my best shows ever, but i dont like how he makes THAT much money so as to throw it away by demolishing stuff he buys, at least demolish someone elses stuffhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/evilgrin.gifhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/evilgrin.gifhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/evilgrin.gif

We just had a couple here in Michigan win the eleven state jackpot here recently. After taxes and such, like 88 milion$ US. They seem to have their heads on straight [he wants a 63 Corvette, she wants a cow], so I certianly hope they can buck the trend and not fall into the pit of past winners.

Also, in regards to rappers and the amoutn of "bling-bling" they have, I see it almost as a naturla reaction to a rapid influx of money onto someone from a very poor background. I would guess it's very hard for ones to save and save, to give back to the community [although many of them do, you'd just never hear about it]. I would guess their psyche would tell them that they have to represent their wealth, to prove themselves to the rest of the community. It also would not help with practically everyone else in the same situation doing likewise.

I know, myself, being from a lower middle class upbringing, I would like to think that I woudl be different, that the majority of my money would go to things like charity, family, and community. I woudl really push myself to do as much, but do you think my love for an Aston Martin DB5 [see below] is not going to claw at me?

I would guess that it would. So I guess I can sorta see where it comes from. I wish it woudln't happen, but it does. And I can totally tell I'm rambling now, so I'll stop now.

well i make under 12k a year, that puts me firmly under the poverty line for my country (15k) however i have a rooamte so i still get around 300 bucks a month to my self, and well if im willing to do some saving for the big stuff thats plenty, and the extra cash hasent messed me up, i recently gave my mom over 300 dollars, she had lost one of her two part time jobs and needed it to cover. i have no problem helping my family, she obviosuly needed it more than i did, if i had not given it to her i would have spent on useless crap like take out, or stuff i dont need.

quite honestly i have no idea what id do with more money, i can cover, i can afford to splurge regularly if i want, i oculd even afford to travel if i wasnet so lazy :P

if i wo the lottery? savings fun, spend a few grand on shit it want and gifts to friends and family, then the rest in savings, why? the intrest off that much would be enouhg to live on comfortabley AND allow teh total amount to still rise slowly.

I don't make any money cuz I don't have a job however Money is not evil. IT's the holder themselves (At least that's what I tink about it) If you're rich and really nice and hold obnto your money and not abuse the fact that you have it than who's to say money is bad. Where as there are those who use there money to exloit people or do other wastefull things with it. SO I can't ahte money but the people who use it. Y'know "Hate the Sin love the Sinner" osrt of thing.

My own personal viewpoint is that, well, money is a means to power. Some people can be in positions of power and still hold to their values, and some (and by some, I really mean most) get corrupted by it. Money begets power, and power corrupts. As to me winning the lottery and stuff, If I did I'd be giving about a million to each of 3 of my good friends, taking 1 mill out for me, tossing the rest into the bank, and then me and my friends would begin a competition to see who could survive well and survive the longest  (we tend to be a bit self destructive now and again, so's long as it's entertaining). Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

You cheepo 2 cents? Ahh well I agree with you there. Money is okay if you still have values and morals. However ,oney still can corrupt people if it's not used wisely. ^o^
