Is anyone planning on seeing this next friday? It's going to be amazing! I've read the comics, and the story is about as dark and gritty as it gets. Judging by the trailers, it seems that they have really captured the feel of the comics in film. For anyone who hasn't seen anything on it yet, the official site is as follows:

i never rad the comics and in fact enver knew whatit was till i saw the trailers....
I'm interested in this. Judging by the trailer, this movie is going to knock me unconscious. I haven't read the comics, though I have been meaning to.

Just got back from seeing it, it was awesome :D. It's 2 hours long, felt a lot shorter though :(
It's totally film noir, from the black and white to the monologues, which I love. The acting was magnificent, especially Mickey Rourke as Marv.
Definitely recommended to anyone, but not for the faint of heart, it is very brutal in some parts.

the monologues tended to be wordy, which seriously detracts from an action flick such as this. i really felt like going to sleep right there in the theater.
i didn't really like the acting much either... i've always hated the way jessica alba performs. it tends to sound like she's just reading the script. no feeling! and that's how most of the film seemed to me (with the exception of Rourke, of course. he was totally awesome.)
also, the violence and gratuitous nudity was a bit much, but i probably would have liked it less if they toned it down any. >.>
...people sure have a lot of blood in sin city...
anyway, it's about 1) a cop protecting a girl from a child molester, 2) a big, ugly guy avenging his beloved hooker (this means having to kill a cannibal and a bishop), 3) some guy protecting a bunch of hookers from a mob war, and 4) some other stuff. lots of protecting and hookers, it seems. and strippers too.
the cinematography was excellent, as was the plot (what? did i make it seem otherwise? ...what could be more interesting than hooker protection?), but it totally felt like reading a book for school.

Someone doesn't like film noir :(
Wordy monologues are the best part.

it's possible to be wordy *and* interesting, but these monologues didn't quite make the cut for me.

haha was a pretty cool movie. I loved how they played with the contrasting blacks and whites and it actually looked like a comic book.

Just finished watching it. I like the city. Wished this one was more like it.
Lots of good stories. I give this movie http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/star.gifhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/star.gifhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/star.gif Would of gotten 4 if they used less computer effects. And the last storie was kinda sick. Probably a bad writer with problems.
To much talking though. And lots of hookers like silver said. Probably the most ever in a movie.
They must of had a deal with converse. I need a new pair.
But what era is the city supposed to be in. Hard to pinpoint.

His character was the strangest IMO.
I saw the movie Saturday, and it kicks all sorts of ass.
The only parts I didn't like are thhe beginning and ending, with the "salesman" being seemingly pointless to the movie. The DVD is supposed to have extra footage, so hopefully they'll make him relevant.

I really don't like it when the directors take something out but leave something in that is not revleant without the first missing thing. But well lifes not prefect.

The DVD is supposed to have extra footage, so hopefully they'll make him relevant.the movie is about justice in an unjust world, and the salesman is a convenient little deus ex machina they threw in to conveniently wrap things up and make the film seem somehow meaningful. obviously, it failed.
