Hey all ya'll here's the rulse to SoM online
1. All teams must regester to me via PM. Plua they need a user name for their SoM char. This is to verfy the winnig snap shot
2. All teams must be using the same Emulator for the Network play to work.
3 All teams will be given an anoucment to satrt their game (after I'm no longer grounded)
4. Thre will be a due date for your snap shot (about a month after start)
5. The snapshot MUST includ time and date to verfy you did not cheat. Plus It should have the user names of charaters registerd.
6.ALL teams must have 3 players
PM me if you need any help also feel free to ask questions here and form your teams here. I'll let all of you nkow when I'm no longer grounded. Then we can start. If you wondering how I'm still posting? It's called school computors:tophat:

Secret of Mana, mmm currently I dont have the time but in the coming weeks if there is another go then I would be interested. eb I have the rom and you should probably use zsnes http://www.zsnes.com/, there is also snes9x http://www.snes9x.com/. I prefer zsnes, but at least you now have a choice.
http://www.zbattle.net/ has a server for zsnes, dont know about snes9x. The only problem I am thinking is you will need team members with the same sort of time region as yourself.
Just so you know, SoM can also mean another game in the same series, which is Sword of Mana for GBA. Anyway!
You should explain this whole competition idea a bit more clearly.
Also, eventhough I probably do have the time to play right now, I'm not sure if I can get my damn connection to work as it should. I need a test drive, so to speak. I have not played any SNES emus online, so I don't know what emulator works well (I know that the SNES9X 1.43 has disabled the netplay). Do they have any sort of chat feature built in?
Also remember that SoM is not a 3 player game all the time.
And as Tanis said, same region team members might be a good idea, unless someone specifically wants to play at night.

I'd be down, Midwest region with a preference towards playing after 9. No idea what were competing for though. Highest level or something? And would weapon levels and magic levels count at all?

but i still dont get netplay though.i mean...how can they connect and fight eachother???http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/confused.gif
No one is fighting each other, we fight in teams against the AI. Have you ever played Secret of Mana? There is maximum of three players that can be controlled, it was possible back in the SNES days if you had two, or three controllers and a multitap. No we just play the game on emulator and connect each other via internet.

OKay sorry iot is Secrete of Mana in case you didn't see that post already... Yes we are working together on teams.... Net play works when 2 or more users have the same emulator and chose the "netplay settings" you then cchoose the game you want to play and join or start a game. Set a password or write one in if you join and then play. It works for all games as I have played Gauntlet for the NES with a friend of mine before... an itreting experiance... And if you read the rulse you'd kow what for.. THe fun of it and to see wich team can beat it the first! Howver the hard part WILL indeed be trying to find a time to play woth your friends... And also the compatition will start AFTER I am free from my groundeness.... In the mean timews we should start setting up teams. PM when youo find one or just post around for one here... If you have any more questions I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities... Later ^o^

I guess that once more people are posting, saying that they're in, we need to find teams.

yaaar you need more info
is this still set up for a possibility? must a team be three palyers or can we got with only two? you want a screen shot of finish time? how are we going to work that? editing my displayed time would be rather easy, how do you plan to insure no cheating? for that matter most emulators havea built in game genies.
i think it would certianly be fun, but you may have trouble keeping it fair.
finally, what do i win when i kick all your asses? :D
<edit: can i be my own team solo?>
I think that the whole 'competition' idea is bad in a sense that we can't verify anything, and stuff. But if we would just make teams and do it for fun? I don't know, competiting over something like this seems a bit silly :) I wan't Elhaym on my team because we are almost on the same time zone and she knows the game inside out :P
Elhaym van Houten

Yeah, Kilu and me would be a dream team....
I'm not sure about the competition thing, mostly because I didn't really understand it :D
I'm not sure how one can compete at Secret of Mana, since it has no time count....

i know the game fairly well my self :D </understatment>
well fi you played windowed mode, you could create screen caps of when you started and hen you finished, of course editing your system time is easy, likekwise a save state of teh "the End" screen wouldnt work for the same reason since windows bases the creation/modified date/time of files on your system time.
i wouldnt mind doing it anyway, i love the game, and i would ceritanly trust kilu to be honest about it :D
if i did manage to talk him into it Locke would be my teammate (big supise hes my roomate :P
we'd likely finishe the game in near record time too we bored so often :D

I think it would just be a friendly competition. As there's no prize, there wouldn't be any reason to cheat, would there? :p
TheDragonKnight
05-31-2005, 10:11 PM
youd think that, adn even if there was a prize youd be sucking any fun out ofthe game. however ive found from gaming online that doesnt stop some people >_<
and if enough peopel participate tehy jsut may be a prize anyway :P
Here you are sir your prize
What the hell do i need a sliding door for?
Its the door prize of coruse *snicker*

True about the cheating thing. But we're all responsible gamers. There's no need for any of us to cheat. Besides, you'd need both team members to be cheating in the same way, or it wouldn't work :p

Well we don't really have to compete we couold just use thius thread as A to set up teams or whatever. However if we did we would leave it up to the honesty of players not to cheat. And if we did compete (This is to Dragon KNight) I think the whole point is to join a team and try somthing new indtead of playing alone with the all to increadably dumb AI
And jsut for the record I own Secrete Of Mana and have beaten it at least 5 or 6 times. I have maxed out the levels of the Mana Spear and the axe and have come close to maxing the Javaline but I accidently missed a sphear prior to the Mana ship (And by maxing I mean level 9 restoring it to it's full potential)

Well like I said before, I'm in. Midwest timezone, school's out so time isnt an issue yet. And as long as were bragging about our experiance, I almost beat Secret of Mana . . . once . . .
TheDragonKnight
06-03-2005, 04:45 PM
ive last played mana back when it came out on the SNES so my recollections are vauge of the game :P
well i suppose we could all go for bragging rights :P i cnat rember if the game will tell you a clear time or not.
and oh god, i agree, the AI's on your teamates are not jsut stupid they are george bush stupid, christ they nearly useless >_<
still trying to talk locke into playing with me, no luck yet :P
:D
The worst part of AI is that they are always stuck behind something on the screen. ALWAYS! :D Second worst is that they are not active enough and fall back on levels. And of course if I set them to be more active, they get killed XD
TheDragonKnight
06-05-2005, 11:01 PM
i usaly stick em dead center, for AI behaviour, and ill take em over every once in a while.
but ya, thir path finding abilities SUCK worse than AOE :P littel bastards ahve actauly gotten me killed, i treid to dodge a hit only to find they were stuck and i could move that direction, and of course the real pisser is you cant jsut leave em dead even as ghosts tehy get stuck :P
Blade Tanaka

That is whgy I swiched around often to get them even levels. The farthest behind they've ever fallen is like two levels. ANd if you set them to the right spot there pretty good at fights without getting themselves killed. The real prblem is that there isn't a magic setting so you can ge tthem to cure and stuff.
And If I recall right Elly asked me to be on her team... I think I'll have to check my messages to see if it's still there.......

ahh well yoy dont actauly have to switch to them to cast magic, one of the buttons gives you your menu and the one next to it (x i think) gives you one of their menu's, tap that button again to get the other one, since the game pauses when a menu is open its all good :P and of course a cast cant be inturrupted so it can bail you sometimes.

After hearing her voice on the ST, I'll agree to that. So very beautiful.
I'd love to play, but the game I have is on dial-up only, and I woudln't want to hold my team back because of some lag issue. And I wouldn't have the time, really, with jury duty and all.
