Have any of you guys ever thought of creating an RPG out of real life events. Like creating a system that works like an RPG would (gaining experience for running a mile or reading a book for instance)? A role-playing game that takes place in the real world and has real world consequences/rules/conditions?

Sure, why not, but real life itself is the ultimate real life RPG, even if you don't have any Xp points counter to watch :D
IMO, RPGs are interesting because they take you to imaginary worlds, where you can see wonderful places and do things that you never could do in reality (e.g. lead an army, do magic...).
...plus look at my sig ;)

thats what I mean, I couldn imagine an RPG wher you come from a hrad days at work or from the school after exams and want to play a game where in that Moment in the game have to talk with the Boss for a Rise if not begin a fight :P, or go to school and see that I have exam in that day but my EP for the exam its too low and its sure you fail the exam, the only good thing its that could be its the benefit of the background music......

wait a sec is a realaity game like the sims?....also if your interested in that then you might wanna check out D20 modren
Well, an RPG set in real world would be interesting. No, I'm not talking about Sims going to work and stuff like that. RPG like RPGs are, but instead of swords, magic and stuff like that, it would be set in the real world, with real physic laws, weaponry and stuff.
This might be interesting, though it might be limiting to the designers. I mean, you really can't design some weird monsters and stuff without going all Wolfenstein and Doom on me. And that wouldn't be all that real anymore.

well D20 modren is a pen and paper D&Dish style set in the modren day, but in the end people would rather sit in from of a screen and see what they can't imagine for them selfs, that why P&P game are losing so many people this day and age its easer to just let some one else show you how its spoused to look

people would rather sit in from of a screen and see what they can't imagine for them selfsthe difference is somewhere along the lines of chewing watermelon gum and remembering what watermelon tastes like.

I like the idea the only problem is that some people have a distorted way of life... Some people use these games as a form of escapism... I'm not saying video games are bad it's just some people take it to the extream... Possibly if we did do this, these people would have a propblem with sorting games from their reality causung a large amount of emotional pain... If it were not for this I would be all for it... As myself I would be but I know a guy who uses games purely as escapims from his problems... I don't want to drag anyone down with me but I just finished an argument with somone who addmitited it... Maybe he's just suckering out so I don't end up fixing his problems for him wich seems a lot like him... the way he cowers with a childish at of comunication seems like him (such as "Fine then I'll asdf you" *he types asdf u" and refuses to talk to you* ... Maybe he's not... I have to find out the answer for myself... ^o^
