View Full Version : What are your measurements?

Your screen measurements, silly :p I'm mainly talking about the active resolution you use for your computer. Until just yesterday, I was set on using 800x600 until hell froze over, however Yume has kindly shed the light on the fact that expanding myself to my new 1024x768 resolution not only fits a lot more on the screen, but will make our new RPGN layout a lot easier to fit everything in nicely :)

So I'm curious what resolution you use. Although our new design is planned for 1024x768, it won't be all that bad in lower resolutions, at worst just the right hand menu will be scrolled over. It took me awhile to get use to this resolution, everything seemed so blurry, small... but its good now :)

So, what are your measurements? http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Monitor: 17inch 'perfect flat'
Video Card: Geforce 4 MX-440 64mb
Resolution: 1024x768 http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/star.gif

.....I know, how nerdy of me. Pssh.

i use 1024x768... but i don't like the higher-resolution sites, usually...
with higher resolutions, they often let the lines get too long. and after so long, when you try to glance back to the beginning of the next line, you get lost halfway there and you end up reading the same line over again! =o

but i doubt that would happen with Yume designing.

The actual content frame will be about the same size as it is now, the extra space simply allows for us to place a second menu-style bar on the right side, for polls or whatever we decide to put there :)

yeah, it actually doesn't happen unless the lines stretch all the way across the screen... don't know why i even brought it up.

I use 1024x768, 17 inch screen and a Hercules ATI Radeon 3D prophet 9800 Pro. :)

Well.. about the new the design. There shouldnt be any worries about streched of bothering parts or whatever. Hmm.. some explanations which might be interesting.
Everything will be designed on a raster. This step will take the most time. An enormous bunch of time... because there are many details I have to keep my eye on. The design itself (details, round edges, colors, shadows, glows and other effects). Well, it would be easy to design something like a wallpaper but such a design would not fit in any tables.. it wouldnt even be possible let it work combined with php. Okay it would be but only for the design itelf.. so there wouldnt be any way to include text fields, such as the main text field. Ahh.. I see.. its to hard to explain all that stuff. Nevermind.. I'll try my best.
Motivation is also a fact that makes everything even harder, since it shall become something unique.
Well, lets wait and see. :)

Greetz, Yume

I use 1024x768, if I use a lower one it's like I know there's more to the screen that I'm being deprived of.

Now that I know it's there I can't avoid it!

Anyone remember that game Catz or Dogz? If you changed the resolution half the screen appeared with extra features. :amazed:

I don't know. 1024x768 sounds right.
I don't own a laptop.
I have a flat moniter that I doubt is capeable of remaining upright without it's precious stand.

I think everyone here has gone 1024x768 and beyound.....just about everyone. My LCD screen, which is 19" by the way, suggests the I go with the higher screen and go with it I am.
