I would like to know what kind of cables there are that can plug into a headphone jack, directly to a microphone jack. Also if there is any software that lets you record the music directly to wav or mp3, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

First of all, why don't you try finding the rip at Zophar's Domain (http://www.zophar.net/music.html) ? Converting a platform specific music format to MP3 will produce better quality results than doing a rip with analog signals.
