:wonder: I wonder if this thread will end up with the highest post count like the old Rank Thread did. The one that Bama created.

silverDistortioN

screw you, Zedie. i'm not going to wait another couple of days to talk about whatever topics i want to talk about.

you snooze you lose.

Zedie9

:wonder: Screw me...? Perhaps so. Perhaps it shouldn't irritate me. Perhaps I'm being silly. And perhaps I'll come back later, because for now, I'm certainly leaving. :p

Kilu
08-01-2004, 06:00 AM
What do you guys think, should the old regulars get their threads back? I think... NOT! :D We don't need couple dozen threads now because we have the How's Life thread :)

Hey silvah, can I borrow your fox, or more precicely, his friends? :lick:

Locke Cole

Silver, play nice. The new forums need time to expand, they don't need all the old threads restored instantly. I'm sure some of the original forum users would have very much appreciated posting their old threads, especially people who have been with our forum system for over 4 1/2 years. If I remember correctly, you were a late bloomer, been here less then a year :p The new forums haven't even been open 12 hours yet, and the old ones arn't totally locked down yet. Plus, it looks abit silly if an entire forum areas' threads were all started by one person. Anyways...... :offtopic:

As for the ranks, you should see some new ones and some old ones, definately more then the last boards. :D No more ugly 5 stars, that's for sure.

Kilu
08-01-2004, 10:28 AM
It would actually be quite hilarious if all of a sudden fifth rank (or some other later rank) would be a star rank :D I would laugh. But I'm sure most would not. I guess I'm a bit nuts :wacky:

Oh, and I might add that wow. Locke is posting :) Guess the new forums put you on a posting spree as well :p

Locke Cole
08-01-2004, 10:43 AM
I do agree, most of the users wouldn't be too excited about reaching that one Kilu :p I tried to make it so each new rank is a little better then the last. Right now, we're all adventuring through the new forums. Soon, some of us shall gain some new abilities... :D

silverDistortioN
08-01-2004, 02:30 PM
Silver, play nice. The new forums need time to expand, they don't need all the old threads restored instantly.
i was restoring the ones i wanted to post in. it's in the middle of summer and i was expecting to have to wait for a week or so otherwise.

except the how's life thread. i apologize for that one.

anyway!
here are the ranks i assembled... i liked the newbie ranks, but some of the later ones i wasn't particularly fond of. i told Locke to remove the second mystic. i just thought it looked cool: ranks (http://sixty9.servebeer.com/ranks.html)!

i figure it's okay to post that since he's apparently not using it... but if you want me to, Locke, i'll go ahead and delete that.

Locke Cole
08-01-2004, 02:37 PM
Nah, let people see your suggestions. I went off on my own trail, but used some of your input for ideas. I don't intend to spoil however. ;)

Wow . . . you guys areup to a good deal of posts already. I'm at home . . . can't post anything here in excess. Stupid dial-up . . . it works now, but we have 1 phone line . . . :(

Locke Cole
08-01-2004, 10:12 PM
The forums will be abit slow for now, but don't worry about people appearing to "shoot up" the ranks. When the first forums opened, I remember hitting like 250 in the first week, alas, it slows down as the new fad fades into an everyday thing. As you all know, I don't post very frequently, but this is a new toy, so I'm getting use out of it for awhile :)

I'm a hunter, w00t.

Kyari
08-01-2004, 10:39 PM
Oh, I've no doubt these forums will keep me entertained for a while. i just feel bad being on dialup, that's all. My connection is tied up between chess and this and downloading firefox . . .

Alas, those wanting to be Antonio, may be disappointed later.

But no Antonio... :(

Zedie9
08-03-2004, 05:07 AM

You're a thief, too, Kilu. And so am I, for that matter. Any guesses as to what's next? I certainly didn't expect to be on the third rank already...

As like the old forums, the first 4 ranks are really just for weeding out the difference between our newbies/people who don't stay long, and those who have contributed to our forums. Anyone who hits rank 5 has obviously spent atleast some time posting with us. Don't worry, it'll slow down. ;) I remember hitting 5th star on the old forums on like day 3. :p

Kilu
08-03-2004, 02:24 PM
I remember hitting 5th star on the old forums on like day 3. :p

I didn't. That makes me all special :p

Actually, I started out posting only in game music area, and stayed there for quite a while. Started to gain more ranks after I polluted the general area with my nonsense as well.

Grim
08-03-2004, 02:27 PM

Locke Cole
08-03-2004, 02:28 PM
It was all out craziness when the old forums opened. We had people like darkfant and rpgcrazed, spectre316, chocobo... we all use to post like mad, all kinds of nonsense. The forums matured from there. :p

silverDistortioN
08-03-2004, 02:33 PM

Locke Cole
08-03-2004, 02:35 PM
Well that should be a sign as to how crazy it was :p It was more like a chatroom then a forum back when it first opened. Now that we're simply moving from a developed forum and not starting fresh, these forums are developing much more quickly.

Grim
08-03-2004, 02:37 PM

Yup, it's all secret. We know the couple first ones, but I'm not telling atleast :p

Zedie9

My wallet is not empty, but you will not find anything of value in there. Unless you like to go to the library. Or you are an LDS church member. Or if for some reason you like recipts and pennies.

I'm not caring about the rank thingies. I'll not be there for 2 years . . . oh well!

Pezito
08-09-2004, 04:19 PM
Is it a very subtle trace of melancholy I sense in your post, Kyari ? :)

In my wallet, hm... Well, I kind of split it in 2. There's my actual wallet, in which you will find all the boring stuff - ID card, ID photo (in case I need one for a document), social security card, my last/old/outdated student card, a few restaurants cards, a used japanese telephone card (because it's as useless as it's ultra-thin and pretty ^^), and that's about it. Then there's my "essential" wallet, which I carry more closely (my "boring" wallet usually stays in my bag) as it contains my cellphone, lip balm (mine are often dry, I :lick: them too much), cash if I have any, and my credit card.

Kilu
08-09-2004, 04:35 PM
You have a bag with you all the time then? I mean, yeah. I carry my cellphone in my pocket.

I need a new wallet. One with a lots of money in it :p Seriously though... I do. Need a new wallet that is, and money, but those two are separarte issues :) Right now my wallet there is
ID card (with a same picture I maybe plan to post somehwre in here.)
library card (works in here and in neighbouring city as well! :w00t: )
ATM card (to be used in ATM :p )
5 € phone card (that I bought about two years ago maybe, haven't used once)
busscard (unlimited rides for Tornio <-> Kemi axis for a month)
PLUSSA Bonus card (user benefit card for local K store thingy)
couple bandages (???)
a small sticker (that (roughly translated) says "Small trouble, good conscience". It's a sticker I got after I donated blood)
couple old receipts
my civil servicer pass (which would probably still be valid, I just don't have any civilservicer busstickets)
approx 60 € of cash (3x20€ and some coins)

edit: list

Pezito
08-09-2004, 05:00 PM
Hehe, yes, I almost always have a bag on my back. :p It's relatively small, I just need it to carry a few things (if not just my 2 wallets :p )... If you add my keys, my book, my glasses, a pocket-umbrella if the weather's bad... Not to mention what's in the bag's pocket : a pen, a notepad, a lighter, a knife, a mini-lamptorch, mini-binoculars (don't ask ^^)... It would be a bit too much without a bag. :D Of course I could take the essential only, but I don't like to carry things in my pockets - it's ugly and unpractical (I like to run without making *bling blang* noises and possibly losing something) ! :p

Kilu
08-09-2004, 05:12 PM
bling bling :D :D

I have my cellphone in my right front pocket, wallet in asspocket (or whatever) or in left front pocket, depending on the pants and keys are hanging from the things (above my right front pocket) that keeps belt on it's place. And I don't have a belt. And that is all I carry.

Kyari

As long as we're telling everyone the contents of our wallets . . .

- 1 Driver's License
- 1 Beginner's License (aren't they supposed to take these from you when you get your liscense?)
- 2 ATM cards for Credit Union (not in use)
- 1 ATM card for Scotiabank (in use)
- 1 Library Card - full access to any resource in library on PEI (hoo-ray!).
- 1 Subway? Club? Card. Stamps: six (6).
- 1 LDS Temple Reccomend - admittance to any LDS temple in the world. It says 'Daniel A. Aitken' . . . my middle name is Joseph XP .
- Approx. 5-6 cents
- 1 recipt from a Postal Office Money Order for $210 . . . this was for my passport and other corresponding fees.
- 4 international stamps, $1.20 each.
- Lint. Unquantifiable; no medium exists.
- Recipts for gas, ranging from Esso to Irving gas stations. Also unquantifiable; they have been mashed into tiny bits.
- 4 Subway? Stamps. Unattached to card.
- Someone's phone number. Perhaps I should call it.

The topic preview function you refer to increases topic list filesizes by a lot, so I thought it was worthwhile to disable it and save the bandwidth over time.

Firstly I would like to say that the new ranking system I think is better, I like the way there appears to be more ranks this time and am happy to say I am also 1 up on rank now, I haven't been posting much really:)

Well we are praising I never had the time last time to add bold fonts etc, actually i never bothered to find out how, but with this new forum came these tools etc so that has been cool too.

I like being able to add thread titles and the extra amount of smiley's too:) so thumbs up on this new forum it is much cooler than the last. Is there any plans to totally revamp rpgamers into a new look too or are we sticking with what it is now?

I will keep you posted here with things I find that I like or hate and Kilu:

Booya 100th post! my first;)

Kilu

and Kilu:

Booya 100th post! my first;)

So? :p It wasn't totally useless post :p No cops this time :D I noticed earlier today that Zedie and Silver are bards. And last time I checked I was 10 posts after Zedie. And I think Silver had couple posts more at some point while being a Dancer. That means, that within couple next posts, I will still be Dancer, BUT Bard within... 8 next post. Or so.

Is it just me, or are the new ranks not on rounded numbers? That would certainly make things interesting . . .

and as for the ranks being on weird numbers, I havent noticed anything, I hit Hunter on post #26, thus meaning Adventurer was 0-25, and I think I hit Thief on #61, so Hunter was 26-60. That doesnt seem to odd to me at all. Seems rather organized :p

Locke Cole

The first few ranks are set at obvious numbers as they are easily passed anyways. Once you get up in the 500+ posts range, and it takes 100's of posts to level a rank, having a wacky number in there has an effect :p Only for the first person to hit it, however.

silverDistortioN
08-11-2004, 08:49 PM
we can make it an unspoken rule not to give out the number of posts for each rank...

I'm not listing the contents of my wallet. :nana:

In fact, I know the word backpack but I feared you would imagine me with a real backpack... You know, like I'm off to some trekking. My bag is on my back but it is petit (even has one handle only). :)
You mean it's a bag with one shoulder strap, like a duffel or gym bag? Or that it's one of those bags that looks exactly like a backpack, but only has one strap? I would personally still call the latter a backpack, unless it has some silly, new-fangled name. :p

Kilu
08-18-2004, 04:37 PM
It's probably a small bag that was in fashion couple years (or something) ago with the ladies :p :p

Pezito
08-18-2004, 04:55 PM
Bah ! Who cares about fashion - I care about efficiency. :p As Zedie suggested, mine is "one of those bags that looks exactly like a backpack, but only has one strap". I chose it because in the subway, I don't like to keep my backpack... on my back. ^^ Pickpockets love it when you're in a crowd and can't keep an eye on your back !

Besides, I consider it uncivil to keep your bag on your back when it's crowded, because you take more space than if you hold it in front of you or between your feet. People complain about overcrowded wagons but if they thought about holding their bags more cleverly, we'd gain a lot of space... :spin:

Anyway, this time I thought it can be a bit boring to switch my bag from my back to my err, "front" ; so this 1-strap bakcpack looked cool because I can rotate it from back to front without taking it off (try to visualize... ? :search: ) !

Basically it's just putting more effort into my back and less into my arms, as I hold my backpack less and carry it more than the previous 2-straps one... But it's nice for a change. :D

Oh, and here I hijack this thread again !

Kilu
11-16-2004, 03:47 PM
I suppose PAL conversion takes too much cash and manpower, and maybe they think that the markets aren't big enough to support such conversions.

Another reason might be that some bigger countries in Europe(France, Germany, Italy...) usually get their own localized versions of games. Requires more manpower & all.

But I don't really know. I suppose the NTSC to PAL conversion is the main reason.

My post count is 666 right now :p MWAHAHAHAHA

Like my favorite that I talk about alot,Age of empire's 2 for ps2. Wich I still play even though I figured out how to cheat.
I also like little big adventure-ps1,ben hur-ps2,divers dream-DC,exhumed-SAT,war of the worlds-ps1,hell night-ps1,frank herberts dune-ps2,and other games that never made it over here.
But thank goodness for that screen position option.

SNES : FF4, FF5, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Bahamut Lagoon, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Seiken Densetsu 3...

PSX : Xenogears, Chrono Cross, FFT, Legend of Mana...

Now the good thing is that most of these RPGs on SNES have been fan-translated since then, and I got them all now. ^^ (All I need is time to play them... XD ) As for the PSX games, those were made available in the US so I played the import versions when they were out. :)

Hmm, no posts for quite a while... This calls for a song.
After all, I'm a bard now.

It's called;

"A New National Anthem."

http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/note.gif From the grand banks of Alberta,
Where the wale fishes blow,
To the wheat fields of Cape Breton,
In the north Ontario.

'Cross the tundra of Toronto,
We will raise our voices high,
The rockies of Saskchewan,
The great lakes of P.E.I. :note:

Ah, the great lakes...
Supierior,
Infierior,
Mediocre,
And Lake Titicaca.

Sending it's water due south,
Through the deep, rich, fertile soil of Sudbury,
To Vancover, the jewel of the east,
In the vast province of British Columbia,
Next to the frankaphone province of French Columbia.

:note: I have paddeled my canoe,
Down many mountain trails,
And snowshoed through the office towers,
of downtown Montreal.

I dropped a hook and line,
and fished from the top of Mini Hill,
And shot the fierce white water,
In my trusty snowmobile. :note:

How about the nations capital,
Oshawa...
Where our two great parties,
the Liberals,
and the Republicans,
Fight for our rights.

:note: Because if your Canadian,
Your from, Canadia.
Our future's behind us,
Make way for our past.

Sing it strong and loud if your Canadian,
Ha ha, your from Canadia.
We may not know much,
But by christ we're proud. :note:

Thank you.
*Holds out hat for tips.*

Astrolounge
12-02-2004, 02:47 PM
They should turn the CN Tower into condo's. The big selling point would be,
"Only apartments in Toronto, that do not have a view of the CN Tower."
Sure it's an architectual marvel, but god it's so ugly...
Something that big should not be that ugly.

It's weird too, I mean MOST of it is actually a building, but then it's got that huge spike on top. Yeah, "look how tall our building is."
You can't do that, that's cheating.

PS: No, thats not the song if your wondering how it could possibly be put to music.

jetblue
12-02-2004, 07:43 PM
It look's alright. Look's better than the Sears building we have. It look's so black and cold and corporate.
The CN Tower kinda look's like the towers in Seattle and San Antonio. I use to live under both there shadows. Nice inside to.
Condo's would be a great Idea. Like the jetsons but no flying cars.

Astrolounge
12-02-2004, 08:53 PM
It's still better than the Calgary Tower of course.

With most towers you stand at the top and say, "Wow! What a view!"

With the Calgary Tower it's more like, "Wow...
...I wonder how the view is from THAT guy's office up there..."

And though it's disappearance caused a fright,
No one seems to know quite where it's gone and no one knows why,
An empty space marks the place where it towered in the sky,
And though police are stynied no clue has yet been found,
Theories about the mystirious diappearance, abound. :note:

Well it's Gone,
Gone,
Gone.

:note: The most logical theory so far seems to be,
That some diner in the revolving resturaunt carelessly,
Dropped a fork through a crack in the floor and it got stuck in the mechanism,
And could not be removed, and jammed the whole gear system,
And sent the whole damn building revolving 'round and 'round,
Untill it screwed itself right out of sight, and forever underground. :note:

Well it's gone,
Gone,
Gone.

Thank you.

*Flips out and starts smashing his old lute on things.*
BLARGH!
(I am not entirely sure how to write this sound, but let your tounge hang loose, and attempt to growl while you shake your head back and forth. You should get the idea.)
*Starts to run around madly.*

Let this be a lesson kiddies, always bring a spare.
Everybody likely knows this song, but i'm on short notice, but the fun part is after i am done, feel free to make up your own verses and add them. :)

Er-lye In The Morning.

:note: [Chorus] What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
Er-lye in the mor-ning! [Chorus/] :note:

Holy crap I just realized Im a Bard.
I guess I should start singing and cavorting.

http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/note.gifGoing with the silver flow http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/note.gif
of river wide with current deep and slow

I rest my wings made to soar
But can I fly anymore?

The river it goes ever on
can heart keep pace rushing well till dawn?

Now I shake of weariness
and go to meet what I can guess

The heart has its secret current
Deep and with out guide
to find out where they will lead
http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/note.gifI take the plunge eye's wide http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/note.gif

I think thats the way it goes. Can anyone name this simple tune?
I will give a blue rose to whoever can.

Hi.
I'm a knight now.
I could quote that one stupid thing from that one web comic, but I will not. Because I have some pride left.

Woah I'm a bard, forgot about that. O.o

Shame really, I quite liked being a dancer.

But my tap dance teacher moved to Greece last week so probably won't be doing that for a while.

Doesn't stop me on the dance mat or randomly prancing round the house though! :D

(shut off protowall to veiw)

Do you know of the quest for the blue rose?

Elhaym van Houten

I only know about the quest for the blue flower...

If I remember correctly, that was some idealized quest in the era of romantcism...
:D I might be dead wrong there, though...and I'm too lazy to look it up.

I'm not 100% sure of what you are asking, but if you want to know all the ranks, you can't. Only way to know is to get there first or look at someones rank who has more post than you.

What's after this one? Maybe that'll be nicer. :D
Trainer. Silver is Trainer right now. Check his profile to see what does Trainer looks like :)
