Yeah... I just became a knight, and I realize that it will take probably several months before I can go up in rank again... unless more people start posting :p
Locke
01-09-2006, 04:52 PM
Yeah chemist would be next for you. Though I am really wondering whats next for Locke. And how many posts it is. I know I have a while to go just for a couple of hundred more posts.I'm kinda curious too, but meh, I'm sure I'll see soon enough :D I'd give it inside a month, maybe a couple weeks. Meh, no worries regardless.
Lance -> Congrats bro, well done :D

Locke

As nice as that'd be, I'd kinda like to know what the next class is..... and right now I think it's up to me to get there, so right now I'd need to say I'll decline for now (not that we can anyways, but meh.) 225 or so left :D (I think :()

Well Blade, at the time of this posting you have 933, and so have 67 or 68 left till you have it. I dunno where the 970 came from, but you need either 1000 exactly or it's on the 1001'st post that you rank up. You're getting there bud :D
Blade Tanaka
01-27-2006, 10:54 AM
While I did know that I need 1000 posts for my next rank I did not know how you got the extra 970 posts. You must have been eating them in your sleep. I demand for some of my posts back please. And uhh... I don't remeber what else I was going to say. But I think it had something to do with cheeze whiz.

Locke
02-04-2006, 11:47 AM
Just because I'm on all the time while at work Blade, that's the only thing. Plus the forum was active enough to get 60-80 posts in a day about 5 or 6 months ago, it's not right now... So that's about it, yeah.

Why aren't you all posting properly?! :wacky:I tried Yuffie, I tried. The forum died down for about a month and a half where there was about 15 new posts a day. That keeps the speed of rising down.
Hey, I'm almost up to 3000. Wonder if I'll go up a rank :wonder:

Well, while I pulled ahead of you for now, judging by our competitions in the past things should pick up around here again, assuming your planning on kicking around and not disappearing again :shame:
Yuffie
03-06-2006, 05:24 PM
I didn't mean to disappear....you see it all started when I was abducted...but...well....it's a long story. I wouldn't want to bore you all so I won't. :D

I still have a ways to go before I make it into the top 10... but I'll get there... just you wait... :p
Locke
03-07-2006, 01:17 PM
The problem with everyone trying to get into the top 10 is that if there's more then 10 people responding to all pertinent threads, then that'd mean that everyone would increase at the same rate, with no real change in the difference between members.
50 Posts to 3 large :)

07-20-2006, 04:24 AM
Well the story comes from a galaxy far far away....
ok not really but here goes:
I was banned as daniel
I had many posts with daniel
I decided to sneak back into rpgamers using "seymour guado"
Wasn't bothered at that time what I was called so chose my second best RP baddy:)
Was allowed back in when I was sussed by Kilu because I wasn't doing a good job keeping up the act (actually i admitted it in chatroom but he already knew it was me)...and I also didn't really care anymore was sick of loading proxy software.
Realised I should have chose seifer almasy the charcter most like me from FF8 and which is also my online nickname
Am now stuck with seymour
Became Sp2 Specialist
Will not make a new user "Seifer Almasy" because that would be 4 seperate usernames on this site and I would be back to 0 :(
The End
P.S, I omitted the story about Judas Iscariot, but we will leave it at that hahahttp://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/evilgrin.gif
Yuffie
07-20-2006, 06:53 AM
Hehe, why were you banned?
So you're most like Seifer...
Wasn't he a teensy bit nuts? :p
EDIT!!!!
I had a quiz urge so here's my results from the "Which FF villain are you" quiz!
"You are that gaywad, Seymour...you have no idea what a truly evil plan really is. You hide behind you're pathetic Mother of an Aeon and you have a hard time defeating those in you're way. You're only good point is that you're resilient and don't know when to give up."
On a similar quiz I was Kuja. They're both kinda gay. :(
Living proof I'm just not cut out to be bad person. :emlaugh:

And yuffie, for all the wonderful arguments, have a good look through the forums;)
ahh the bad old days.http://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/evilgrin.gif
as for seifer, well he was egotistical, a bit of a power freak, he enjoyed rivalry, ended up being in charge on an army and well....in many ways he was cool. Though he was overall not like me, he was the closest hehe.
On seymour, everyone gives the poor guy a hard time:( many cite the voice as the reason but I think the voice actor did a great job....http://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/dance.gif
Never got to Finish ChronoTrigger or FF1-5 but I have the emulators and games so....
Kuja gay? Though his outfit made him look like a girl his ambitions made him great. If he had to die, then all in existence must die with him. Forget a single planet he went for the mother-load.

And I suppose literally I still haven't actually heard it.
As for ff villains I kinda liked how Kuja was a romantic guy with a knowledge of the arts and a bit of culture. But yeah, the whole killing everyone while wearing a purple thong did put me off. :p
Seymour seemed like a nice bloke...despite the dress with a mahussive bow on it (how is a giant bow not gay?!). Again a romantic type but in a bit of a wimpy way.
Seifer...again a romantic but a bit too crazy.

Gotta love a guy who believes in marriage though. :D

SeymourGuado
07-23-2006, 08:25 AM
That was a forced marriagehttp://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/knockedout.gif and he only wanted it so he could control Sin so he could have total power greater than his beloved Anima
So I guess it don't count;)
Changing topic slightly, its nice to see so many of the words in FF coming from Latin. Materia = matter. Anima = Soul to name 2 offhand. Most names in FF series named after existing mythology, religion, latin etc. Sephiroth, from Sephirot
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sephirot_%28Kabbalah%29
Yuffie
07-23-2006, 09:35 AM
Kabbalah is starting to get pretty annoying if it's what I think it is.
Is it that religion famous people e.g. Madonna are all joining where they wear a bit of red string on their wrists?
It's become too commercialised for my liking for a religion. :wonder:
But I'm an atheist so I'll live. :D
I forget what happened...so he wanted to marry Yuna because...then he could control Sin...? Why did they need to get married and how did that help?! Yuna would've become Sin....and that's just a twisted relationship! :amazed:
SeymourGuado
07-23-2006, 11:25 AM
No;) Yuna doesn't become sin, the person who joins with her, gets melded with her (to produce the final aeon which is always the non-summoner+Yu-yevon. Actually I always thought it was supposed to be both in 1 aoen, but clearly only jecht is around at the end, he is the final aeon and braska is not concious, or alive) through yunalesca (the final summoning), then, they go to sin and once they defeat sin which is just a shell for yu yevon, yu yevon junctions to the new aoen (in this case it would be seymour, like jecht beforehand). Seymour only wanted to marry because it suited him, also, the relationship has to be strong, friendship or love, or the bond between the two will not produce the final aoen (i.e. marrying furthered his goal). The summoner dies regardless i.e. is sacrificed to produce the aoen.
Seymour thought that he was strong enough, once melded with yu-yevon to be able to take over completely and thus aquire the shell sin as his ultimate battle tank. (I think actually seymour might have been in trouble, and yu yevon too strong for him perhaps)
So it was all for seymour:)http://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/evilgrin.gif
Yunalesca's father is Yu-Yevon, she is basically supplying victims (I haven't made my mind up on this, perhaps she just deluded to think its better for ppl to keep dying every time), to keep him alive so each time sin is destroyed, the new aoen he then aquires and reenergises (or remakes) sin, this is called "The Calm", after which, he goes on another killing spree with the new Sin.
What makes sin die in the end is that they get into Sin and destroy yu-yevon after killing off all the aoens he junctions to (and of course Braska's final aeon), thus he has absolutely nothing to junction to and is then defenceless. You cannot die against Yu-Yevon in the game:)

And as for the Yu-Yevon and dying thing.... are you positive you can't die?
Yuffie
07-24-2006, 08:06 AM
I think so...every time you die it cast auto-life or something on everyone. :D
My kind of battle! :p
It was a bit of a slow battle though.
Hey now.... what about my post count :( :p ;)
And as for the Yu-Yevon and dying thing.... are you positive you can't die?
Yep, after you beat jecht auto-life is on the whole party. Doesn't matter how many times you die you just keep coming back. I don't know why they did this it wasn't like it was a hard battle.
Beating all the monsters in the areana is another story all together.
SeymourGuado
07-24-2006, 01:47 PM
Also, I even went as far as waiting for "possessed Yojimbo" to do his limit break. In the cavern "dark yojimbo" kills you off with an auto game over no matter what if he uses his limit "zanmato", he does not do this when you fight yu yevon when he has possessed your yojimbo, therefore it is 100% impossible to die.
The only beef I have with that game is they made it too easy to beat the dark aeons by using zanmato instant kill. That move should not be allowed!
Same with FF7: The End by Cait Sith, FF8: End by Selphie, FF9 is an exception atleast:)
When it comes to final fantasy 7-10 I know practicly everything, I went through it many times and tried checking every possibility the 2nd, 3rd times round:)
I don't know why they did this .It was part of the storyline. Early on it said he was useless without aeons, powerless without them. Since you kill off all Aeons and Braskas Final Aeon, the story leaves no plot hole, and the killing of the possessed aeons was also part of the story, hence they made you invincible:)

My sister would love final fantasy but they made it too hard for her (she couldn't get past adel D4 FF8, or that sea creature in Junon town FF7) all she wants is to progress and have the story. They should have a "story" mode, where you can't die, but you can't get the very best weapons or very best magics either. Just for people who want to finish it for the story.
There is a way round it, if she ever wants to play a agame again I will find someone with a cheat Cd etc, and give her invincibility:)

The problem with RPGs is they tend to just pile a whole heap of bosses at the end! So you have to go around levelling up for ages because you've neglected it the whole way through. :p
I suppose having so many bosses does indicate your closeness to the end but they get a little dull.
WOOHOO!!! I beat it!!! I win!-....oh crap it turned into it's alter ego in trance-excel-oversoul. Well here I go again....

There is some truth to that, especially on FF8.

Though I have never used one on a game I hadn't already beatin. I don't think RPGs require any assistance either. The whole point of the genre is if you can't beat something . . . LEVEL UP.
One game I found that was annoying to level up in was Legend of Dragoon. The monsters gave almost no experience compared to what you needed to acquire your next level. Fortunately the game is a joke, and most children could run through it with ease.
Edit : Bosses are my favourite part of RPGs. You play the game and most monsters die off in one hit then you get to the boss. Though they often lack challenge they don't die in one hit.
What was really funny, the bosses in FFX, they were a joke. The monster arena (as I mentioned earlier) on the other hand required sphere after sphere after sphere.

I hate these kind of battles. It makes the game feel cheap in a way. Another thing that I hate are those multi status attacks bosses do in the beginning of and during the battle. Cheap way to make it harder, in my opinion.

I disagree, and surprise surprise, hate bulking up characters. Cheap way to make the game seem longer than it really is. Timer clocks at 40 hours, 20 hours has been wasted on mandatory leveling up. It's just not fun.
In a related story, the thing I hated most in ff8 (aside from the story, omg) was the draw command. Drawing from enemies was pretty much mandatory if you wanted to have any decent junction power at all. And boy was it boring or what.
The whole levelling up thing is actually the thing that originally kept me from finishing ff6. At the end, you must split your guys to 3 groups, and I only had the core team of 4, and maybe 2 guys on okayish levels. Rest would have needed some serious bulking to survive in the last fortress. So I stopped playing, and have since lost the save probably.
The best thing about ff7 is that even if you didn't use all your folks to fight, they still leveled up 5 levels behind the highest level or something like that. So when at that one point you are forced to change some guys around, they can actually fight. I don't remember if 8 or 9 worked like this, but X didn't(and the system is different anyway).
In conclusion, I hate any kind of forced leveling up. :D

ahh yes but don't forget the FF7 timer is biased in your favour atleast:) 1 min 12 roughly = 1 earth minute , same with BOF3 I have mentioned this before:) FF8 was another matter, cheap skates made it so it adds on 1 minute every 50 seconds:) NIce trick ey

I kinda liked the draw command on ff8 although it did take aaaaaaages!
But it meant you had plenty of magic for the boss battle and didn't need to worry about how you spent your mp. :D
Maybe I shouldn't have said "the whole point of the genre", I think characteristic would have fit better. It just seems more accurate to have to fight a lot to get better, in order to beat someone who is stronger than you. But hey, I guess if everyone like the same characteristics in games there would be no variety.

I like the battles...but I'd like them more if they were more fluent. e.g. if you could go straight from one place to the next and on the way had about the right number of random battles to be prepared for the next boss.
I prefer games that challenge me...but aren't impossible. They fill me with a childish sense of glee when they're done. :)

Yeah, that's true...I like trying to get past that hard part in a game, dying around two times in it, has a nice sense of accomplishment to it, and doesn't result in frustration if I fail too much =/

Never play an RPG to cheer yourself up if you're pissed off...
The random battles just drive you nuts!! Especially if you lose through not trying hard because you're angry!!
I guess if you find the right places in a game leveling up isn't a problem. For example, setting off the alarm in Junon in FF7 after completing the Golden Saucer. Simply go back, hit the alarm, and you level up to around 30-35 rather quickly. Makes the first disk a joke though.
Final Fantasy 8 had the islands closet to heaven and hell and FF9 had that island with the goat things that blew you away. In most final fantasy games there are always places to speed up your leveling, it's just a matter of finding them.

I suppose this is where I cut in and tell you there are better places than those (apart from FF9..those Yan's are the best) but I won'thttp://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
They're examples, and probably the most common ones. Though as you said nothing is better than the little goats in FF9.
SeymourGuado
07-27-2006, 10:09 AM
yeah:) only bad thing about the Yan's is that they put you ina status that makes you have no exp, so you gotta keep sorting yourself before you end battle, and they are hard little buggers toohttp://forums.rpgamers.net/images/smilies/evilgrin.gif

Yeah the whole virus status makes them a little annoying, and of course snuff (I think that's it) where they blow a member out of battle.

You are correct. The move is called "snort" I believe....then you have to contend with that nasty meteor move which if hits, devestates the party. 3 yan's are pretty hard to defeat:)
The hardest challenge on FF9 however is getting through the game and winning the game whilst keeping yourself on level 1....it canm be done:)
Also, getting Excalibur II for Steiner, you must get to the crystal area at the end of the game within 12 hours, and I heard you also have to kill hades beforehand. That is hard to do. I could prob do it, but the effort isn't worth steiners best weapon;)
It is also possible to kill Ozma with a team on level 1. The trick to winning the game is to steal alot, thus the move "Theivery" can take up to 9999 HP

I'm not great at mini-quests etc. on rpgs...I start them full of good intentions then I get distracted and want to know what's happening with the story.
But THIS time it'll be different...

Beating Ozma at level 1 :amazed: . How is that possible, you'd die in one hit, no matter what move he decided to use. I doubt that is legit, most high level parties can't survive his dual magic attacks.
SeymourGuado
07-28-2006, 09:12 AM
No it is legit. I have confirmed it is possible. It is the tactic you use and also the fact FF9 is designed in such a way as to make low levels almost the same as high levels when fighting. some of ozmas moves are % based and with auto life , you just come back to life.
The video is legitimate. I will supply:)
Also possible is beating Emerald weapon on 7 with 0 materia and 1 player. I could easily do this myself....Its no biggy:)

This I have seen done and have done myself but not Ozma in FF9. Though I only played ff9 for a fraction of the time I played FF7 (FF7 being my favorite).

I also got my wires crossed, its not a 1 HP team...how can it be:) thats impossible to make. It is a level 1 team though, which really amounts to the same thing since they are all on about 200 HP, and have gone through the game as a level 1 party by not beating enemies
They use moves that are determined by how much you have stolen during the game. Thievery for instance, its power is greater each time you steal
I can't watch the fight from work so I'll have to wait until I get home. I'll watch it closely though, it maybe possible, but it just doesn't seem right.

Yeah I'm satisfied, I'll see the videos and determine if I think they were legit. Do you trust the source or was it just something you've seen someone do? It is just insane to believe.
Anyways back to the topic . . . . Congrats on the geo rank locke. I should be going up a rank any week now.

Not really the right area for that either. It's for big screen movies, not any youtube stuff. You could make a thread in the videogame area though. Much more accurate placement.

eh... just to back to topic... (or did I steal it? hehe) no I didnīt...
*became a thief* oh... archer then thief... whatīs the world coming to..?
btw.. are there still people that havenīt completed ff 7, 8, 9 and 10? weird...
oh.. and I saw you wrote your sister couldnīt take the boss at junon Semour... ok.. some advice on that... give this to her sometime... just have Yuffie, Cloud (no choise here) and either Barret or RedXIII (or Nanaki which is his real name)... Barret because he can shoot from afar.. and so can Yuffie...(but if anyone have the rangemateria equipped anyone can...) plus Yuffie has the first limitbreak which take some dmg on the boss... and she can throw stuff too... if the boss descide to lay a sphere on one of the partymembers, just break it and continue.. can you tell her that..? oh.. you can also take Aeris for her healing limit... heh.. I hope this helps a little...
