I'm going to post various song clips in mp3, midi and such formats, and I want to see who can guess the song first. I will post a new song after the last has been successfully guessed, and will drop hints if need be.

Please only post in this thread if you are guessing. I'll start easy and go from there.

And away we go...

I know I have heard this before, but can't say I know where.

And I'll be booking the next challenge. I have bunch of midis I made for vgmix's 'NAME THAT TUNE!' thread :) No one guessed them there, maybe you'll do better :)

South Isle music from Robotrek.
:) WOO! :)

Here's the next one. This is slightly modded version of the original, and only a small part, because that was the idea in vgmux's thread. Also, do remember that I made these midis myself, and my midi skills are pretty nonexistant :D

I have already couple hints ready for this, they are also midis :D

edit: I might also add that Jari picked up all of my files when I played them to him back when I posted the on vgmix boards. So they are recognizable.

Kilu is correct, South Isle from Robotrek!

I wonder, how did he figure it out? :p As for your entry... it plays as 10 seconds of silence on this PC, I'll have to try on my other later. Anyone else guessing?

I have played the game, duh :) Took a while to remember it though.

That's weird. It's a regular GM midi  As far as I know anyway. And I should know, I made it :wonder:

This song is composed by the same man. So if you know this one, you have atleast narrowed it down a bit :) They are both from SNES games.

This is straight cover of the song. If you don't recognize it from this, you don't know the piece :)

Meh, too easy. I decline to answer.

I practically stuffed the answer to Mithrandir in IRC the other day, so he knows it already, and probably Locke as well. So there is no use to keep it a secret anymore.

The correct answer is Emperor of Balladry from Treasure Hunter G. Hitoshi Sakimoto is the composer.

Anyone else want to take a turn now?

Ok then. I didn't take the time to do a midi cause I'm too lazy for that. But I find one and here it goes.

Works for me, but I can't place that. It's familiar though.

I guess the server was down at that moment. It should be online now.
I'll give a first hint...well if it can be a hint: it's a NES game
