Um... I'm extremely ignorant when it comes to foreign countries so I'm not sure how many of you out there celebrate Halloween. But if you do, then say what you're going to dress up as or if you're just going answer the door every few minutes until you get lazy and just leave a bowl on the doorstep with a sign that says Take One, but after 5 minutes the bowl and contents are gone.
... I'm going as a goth. It's going to be awesome. I'll have a trenchcoat, black fingernail polish, black hair spray, dark clothes, baggy pants, white stuff on my face, black eyeliner, and black lipstick. If some of you out there actually dress like this, don't be offended that I'm laughing. It's just that it is so opposite of me it is super funny. Excuse me to go write a poem about pain and suffering. ;)

last year, i was supposed to go as me, but Locke's place was too hot, so i decided not to wear the costume. >.>
this year, i was thinking about just walking around with a pair of cat ears on... but i also want to wear them around campus for a few days during the rest of the year, so i'm not really sure if that would be a good idea.
I'm thinking of going all nerdy, I'm gonna tuck my pants up really high; and then I have the glasses.. and I'm gonna carry around a book <(^.^)^ other than that.. I might go to my Grandma's

We're having the annual RPGN Halloween bash! Last year was just so much fun... oh wait, half the people didn't show up and it sucked. X_X But I got to meet silver, so it was still cool. This year it'll be held at our apartment, not at my mom's, woo!
PAAARRRRRRTY!

Im going to my brothers house for the family party and Im going to wear the same costume I wore last year. A Zeon General complete with mask, sword, cape. I looked around and I cant find any good costume's. The Orange jumpsuit for a convict kinda got my intrest. But I would travel cross-country for a Master Shake costume. A really well made one.
That would be so awsome.
Last year my mom was at the house while I was out and she said no trick or treaters came by at all. Bunch of snobby kids we have around here. There are also a lot of arab and egyptian family's here so mabey they dont celebrate.
My mom is also prepareing for All Saint's day and Dia de los Meurto's. November 1 & 2.Thats when the house really look's scary with all the saint statues and candles she brings out.

Friday or Saturday night is a friend of mine's bday party. Hopefully it won't suck.

I don't celebrate Halloween - it's not a traditional day here in France (and Europe as a matter of fact), although more people pay attention to it every year. Mostly shops and malls - anyone who has something to sell - because "special days" are reason enough to promote more. ;) Many people take it as a chance to cosplay and make creepy-themed parties, otherwise. Very few kids go for the trick-or-treat thing, as most people are not familiar with it and don't care about it. :p
For Halloween, I'll just watch The Nightmare Before Christmas at Gigi's home - we've seen it a few weeks ago but she wants her family to watch it now. ;) And on the 31st we'll have a chocolate-fondue*, as a pretext to eat sweets and candies ! ^^
*fondue : "melted cheese dish" as stated in my old Harrap's dictionary. You heat up a big pot in which you melt cheese (with a tear of alcohol I think), then you dip roasted bread in the cheese and eat it (careful your piece of bread doesn't stay stuck in the cheese or you get a pledge ^^). That's the fondue savoyarde, but you also have the fondue bourguignonne which uses hot oil instead of cheese, and meat instead of bread ; the meat is cooked in about 10-30 seconds, and you eat it with a variety of sauces (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and others). Now the chocolate-fondue works on the same principle, except you use chocolate in the pot and you dip fruits or candies in it ! :hungry: We've never tried, so I hope we'll manage... ^^
.. Now that I've typed all this, feel free to confess that you perfectly knew what a chocolate-fondue is, and I could've spared the lengthy explanation ! XD
The Nightmare Before Christmas.. chocolate-fondue, dang you got it good =/. But I'll still have piles of delictable candy, maybe some sharp objects, and probably watch TNBC all before breakfast time! ^.~

The question is not "What are you doing for halloween" rather is should be, why arent you coming to the RPGN party?
a party consisting of three of us is going to suck royally, as we all sit around bored staring at eachother for the others 364 days a year anyway.
So lie beg cheat steal and borrow your way to hamilton and come to our party!!
I'll pack myself in a cardboard box and mail it to Locke.

I'd go if I werent so busy with the one here and I have to help take all my little cousins and nephews and neices go door to door. So hard to control.
My dozen of egg's are nice and ripe. I only throw them in retaliation. Every year its a big problen here with the punks. The punks love throwing egg's at crowds of kids. Last year I got hit on the back. I think the fine is $200 for every egg they find on you or throw. But the police do nothing.
Is this throwing of rotten egg's also a custom where you guy's live?

I've mentioned it many times in other post's. Well not many pay attention to my post's anyway. Chicago,Windy City,Capone Ville,Chi-town,Da bull's,etc. My brother's and sister's aunt's and uncles live there now I had to move to a surrounding suburb, Norridge, because of an.....incident involving ganbangers.
The punks have started early throwing egg's. Some public busses are already yellow and smelly. Here in the suburb some houses of have a egg stain or two on there side's. And the supermarket's are forbiden to sell egg's to any teenager.
I was just wondering if in other lands they have this problem.
Or some other halloween mischeif.
Finland doesn't really do Halloween. So, we don't have that kind of issues either :) Halloween in Finland is just another excuse to get drunk. Most of the bars have special Halloween themed nights, but that's pretty much it. Obviously there also private parties, but there is no trick or treat tradition here.
As far as I know anyway :)
Oh, you live in Chicago I see.. well I live in the states also, but we don't throws eggs..See usually on Halloween we go around in costumes, and we go door to door asking people for candy, say the tradtional "Trick or Treat". =P

In case some of you are interested, I found a little to sum up what this time of year means to me.

http://paganwiccan.about.com/library/weekly/aa120602hollyoak.htm
I'd like to think you find new knowledge interesting, so enjoy.
And happy halloween for those who celebrate it.
EDIT: Despite what it says, samhain is pronounced more like...
Sa (short a as in "mach") Ween / Wayne
Both are acceptable.

(raises hand) The image on the pumpkin is ancient greek and I belive it is Lambda.
The party ended early so I got home at 5:00 pm. Two of my sister in law's were argueing and did'nt want to bring there kids over to the party. And two of my brothers had to work so there family's stayed home. So there were very few people at the party and only 5 kids so my sister was able to handle them going door to door so I called my mom to pick me up. I got a plate of food ,some candy and I did'nt lose my seed money gambling because not all my brothers were there. So it was a good dayhttp://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/smile.gif
I don't know about ancient greek and lambada, but it's the Halflife logo.
:)
My Halloween was eventless.

1) Giea's only 12, so don't let your head get *too* big.
2) the halflife logo *is* greek lowercase lambda.

Ancient Greek nothing, that is still the Greek letter Lambda. :)
It also has stuff to do with math and science. I couldn't remember what exactly but a quick search threw this up.
"Small lambda is used for the eigenvalue of a matrix, the mean and variance of a Poisson distribution, and also for the modulus of elasticity."
So there...
...
Yeah I didn't get it either.
1) Giea's only 12, so don't let your head get *too* big.

I don't dress up for halloween in England, if you do you'll probably get egged or beaten up, so I tend to stay home. :p

On Halloween I keep a box on my end table filled with rocks to hit those who try to egg our house, I feel they will learn their lesson better that way.
Plus I don't like to waste food, and rocks don't cost anything.

i live out in the middle of nowhere, so we don't get many kids coming around... so we don't get many eggings/TP'ings either.
usually we buy a ton of candy and i'll just eat it all afterwards (or beforewards, maybe... >.>), but one year, we didn't buy any, and this new family stopped by.
they had to eat the old, stale candy. =)

There's a small cult for that man over here. Even a small museum with some workable chamber's. And there's about 2 indie film's. Some local video store's have them.
To bad they burned the castle down. I would've liked to explore it.

I'm not sure I would've... It sure would be interesting, but I mean, I'd far prefer a big model of the "castle" to look at, with explanations and all ; but to walk there and see the same rooms as all those tortured people got to see before they died... I wouldn't feel comfortable with it. :wonder: By the way, kudos to the guy who lit up a match with all that gas around when they found the basement ! How stupid ! XD
