View Full Version : Favorite unobtainable music?

I'm curious what people's favorite unobtainable music is. By that I mean it's music you've heard somewhere and love, but there is absolutely no distribution of it at all and there's other talking or distracting effects to record it directly. I guess I'm thinking more of movies than games, but they both overlap some. Here are some of mine:
-The music played in the opening to Need for Speed High Stakes movie
-Music played during the scene in Charlie's Angels 2 where Lucy Liu is streetboarding down the side of a mountain
-the non-title music in the tv series 24
-Score to the movie Joe's Apartment
Anyway, just curious what other coveted music is out there.
-Music played during the scene in Charlie's Angels 2 where Lucy Liu is streetboarding down the side of a mountain
I would imagine that this music is available. I haven't seen the movie, so it's just a hunch.
Pretty much all the music from Resident Evil Remake and Resident Evil Zero. Most of them are recordable, but I dislike gamerips quite much.

I don't think so, as best as I can tell it's composed by Edward Shearmur and they didn't release a score for the movie, just a standard soundtrack.

Music from Jak and Daxter! Ahh! I can't find it anywhere at all! Anyone know something about it? :( Also... before I found this site which was a godsend (Thank you so much for everything Locke! :)) the music from FFX where you... have to rescue a certain person from a certain city guarded by a certain monster in the sky, to avoid spoilers. The music where you slide down the chains and stuff and fight your way up was so cool and I could not for the life of me find it until this site. I listened to it non stop for like a day when I finally got it. ^_^

:) The music from MechAssault, SlyCooper, War of the Monsters, and Godzilla (Xbox), to name a few.
I'd also like the soundtrack to the movie The Shining, which is out of print if I'm not mistaken. :spin:

I've seen The Shining OST on one of RPGN mirrors this year. I was downloading it when the FTP suddenly got offline... it never got online again :(
I still have the first three tracks, just in case *shrugs*

Well as I said, I haven't seen the movie. Never really even imagined that there would be actual score music in it.

I think that the music played in Gladiator, when Maximus crosses the desert (when he's ill, lying in a chariot) is neither on the 1st, nor on the extended soundtrack.

I forgot about that track, I remember liking that part when I saw the movie, but never really followed up on it. You might want to check the credits in the movie (Don't trust ones from imdb.com, they're not always complete) and see if there are any other songs listed besides what Hans Zimmer composed. It could be something that sounds like it could be part of the score, but isn't really. I found that out when I listened to one of the songs from Blade.

The track on FFX called nostalgia. It's only accessible from the sphere theatre and can't be found on any soundtrack or compilation! I've been searchin for it forever but with no luck! Also the track O Verona written by Craig Armstrong from Romeo + Juliet, on the soundtrack it has Pete Postlethwaite talkin most of the way through it! Grrr!
P.S. This is my first post on the forums. Woohoo!

I always was fond of the music that played in the populated wingly cities in Legend of Dragoon, but it isn't on the OST for some reason.

dan are u sure about this? It may just have been renamed, in my days of using the PSF2's of FFX i remember seeing it. If this is true ca someone verify so I can locate this and record it from the actual game digitally, many thanks:)

Capcom PN-3( Part Number 3) all
90's show "Hunter" Opening theme
Street fighter Alpha 2: Sakura Theme
D&D:heroes Battle of the Frostwombat ( it was on a server of BIGMOG a while back but never found it again )
the REAL version of Mega Man 2: MetalMan theme. all that I have found has been downsampled reduced in tempo or just did not sound right.
About the FFx Nostalgia...
PSF2 pack doesn't have song named like that. So it's probably renamed, but as I don't have the game, I can't crosscheck the songs. There are two unknown songs in the pack, so it could also be either of them.

Yes I found out Nostalgia is named only at luca like that and I am getting round to going there and verifying which tune it is on the ost (if it is there) I will keep you informed ;)
Also does anyone know if the Streer Fighter 2 Turbo OST was ever released on CD? That is the version from the snes with the groovy ken. guile music? NOT the CRAP versions like alpha or "turbo super duper wuper killer WOW this is the VERY last version of Street fighter 2" soundtracks;)
If you are a true game music fan you will certainly know which music i am referring to on the snes;)
I think the original Street Fighter 2 musics are the best of all. As far as I can remember Turbo had the exact same musics. There is no OST out of either of those.
Super was just awful pile of crap.

I am getting round to digitally recording the tunes from metal gear solid2 and substance..as the ones on the ost differ and they even missed out loads including olga battle.
Also i confirmed tune at Luca, "Nostalgia" is not on the FFX OST in any way which is a real pity because its a good piano piece. Still it will now be recorded by me and put on someones server soon:)
PS just noticed wakka's theme is also missing, what the hells goin on here....well I will go through this ost with a fine tooth comb and record the missing ones:)
UPDATE
Ones that are missing from the FFX OST (these are named at the Luca sphere grid) a. wakka's Theme b. Nostalgia and c. Illusion [Note that this illusion is not the one that appears on the FFX OST, that one is renamed at the sphere grid to "Phantoms"). d. Hum of the Fayth (i'm not recording this, its just Tidus humming....the PSF2 pack also has yuna's hum....pointless)
Will upload to Kyari, Bamatone and maybe another tomorrow:) so thanks Dan1500 for pointing it out and now you may finally get hold of Nostalgia

I really like the music you hear when your in the hunter's guild in Phantasy Star Online. I think its the hunter's guild. The room that overlook's the planet in the window. I cant find it on any PSO ost's.

Ok missing FFX music is in the "From Daniel" folder on Kyari's server for now.
Nostagia
Wakka's Theme >>>>>>> all at 224 Kbit/s Stereo MP3
Illusion 2
If anyone can confirm the correct composers for Nostalgia and Illusion (2) then thanks:)
Now onto LOTS of missing MGS2 and substance music which is my next task ;)
If anyone can confirm the correct composers for Nostalgia and Illusion (2) then thanks:)
I believe that is rather impossible. Normally when there is a multiple composers album, liner notes usually tell who composed which songs, but in cases like this... Style? Technically can be done, but hardly reliable. Mailing Sqaure? Hardly.

the song i'm looking for more than anything is the ff vi opera compilation from the fourth orchestral game music concert. i keep trying to connect to the ftp to get it, but i can never get in!
Does that make it count as unobtainable?????http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/funnyeyes.gif http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.rpgamers.info/images/smilies/wall.gif
but that's just my .02$

Well, it's sort of given that Wakka Theme is from Uematsu, considering that all of the character themes in FFX are from him :) Nostalgia sounds a lot like Nakano. I could swear it is from Nakano. Nakanos style is sort of recognizable, most of the time anyway. If you have heard Another Mind soundtrack, you can easily hear that this is by Nakano as well. Every composer has those certain signatures in their songs ;) And my Golden Ears™ can recognize them, so hooray :)
