My jaw just dropped to the floor when I stumbled upon the first trailer, a few weeks ago... Click the picture below to watch the trailer :

This was like my favourite childhood book ! And they're making it into a film AND it looks very good (which wasn't sure at all) ! And it's made by Spike Jonze, who did the very good Being John Malkovitch ! And... I CAN'T WAAAIIIIIIIT. \(°___°)/

I'm having a difficult time convincing people of the potential of this movie, because most of my friends are younger than I and they've not even heard of the book. Which was such a masterpiece actually. ( ; _ ; )

:) This is an excellent story. I'm not sure that I read it as a small child, but I had before I was grown. It has been read to both The Boy and The Girl, both of whom love it. There is a Scholastic 'animated' version on dvd that is pretty good, once I got used to the music, and I've seen at least one live performance of it that was surprisingly good. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the film adaptation, too! :spin:

They even did some very nice looking toys (http://www.spawn.com/toys/series.aspx?series=177)... But they seem hard to find, unfortunately.

Ooooooohhhhhhhhh
I loved that book when I was a little kid :D. Wow, this is so cool. I'm so totally gonna see this movie.

Hihi, Pezito, I can imagine nobody of the younger people remembering that one - most people I hang out with atm are around 22, they never heard of it.
So, it'll probably me alone since I'll have a hard time convincing them to go see a movie based on a children's book :D

Same here ! It was difficult enough already to convince people that Ponyo On the Cliff By the Sea was worth the money... Then again, I have an open mind when it comes to "childish or not childish" ; as long as the message is interesting and the picture is nice, I can appreciate it. ^^

I'm intrigued by this because I, too, was a huge fan of the book growing up. :D

I guess Spike Jonze is aware now that should the movie fail, thousands of young adults world wide would be wanting him DEAD.

Well, maybe not... there have been so, so many poor adaptations of books that I am more often surprised by good ones than not. :spin:
