I relly wanna get a ddr pad and stuff.

It looks relly cool at the arcade and this internet based keyboard one kinda sucks and don't give me exercise.

Do any of you play DDR games with a dance pad thingy?

And is it well worth getting one?

My brother was recently in Alberta, and while he was there, he picked up a DDR pad - a 'Digi Dance Pad' - for us to dance on. Problem is, he didn't get DDR. Oh well. He'll be getting it this week.

I think it's great. The machines out there . . . good excercise. Some people even put them in health clubs. Many have slots to insert your memory card. It's a great thing.

I like it for exercise too; I started playing it for 20 minutes a day and I noticed I got a lot fitter :D Unfortunately, I quit doing that, partly because the music sucked, partly because my pad is some 3rd party piece of junk, and partly because I'm lazy. :x

If you want the best selection of music, look into getting an import copy... It'll cost more but it'll be worth it if you want to play it repetitively.

yeah, i used to be freakin' addicted to ddr... but i'm really sick of the music now. it's all been going downhill, i think.

4th mix was my favorite. ^.^
my cousin burnt me a jap copy for ps1, but it's got some label-side damage now. oh well...

so... do you freestyle or tech? =)

Yo !

I've discovered DDR in March or something... At the beginning, I thought it was ridiculous, but when actually trying it on a dancepad, it came out to be really addictive :)

Since then, I've been practising on Stepmania (the PC port of DDR) one hour every 2 or 3 days, and I'm getting better and better each time ^^

My favs are by far the songs from Anime Mix and BemaniRuler Originals :shades:

Silver> I guess I play something hybrid between tech and freestyle : I play difficult parts very technically, like a robot, but I try to do variations (feet positions, side of the pad where I'm dancing...) on the easy parts :p

i was never under the impression that DDR was rediculous... granted, all my friends look like complete fools when playing it, but my first impression came from video of this huge tournament... hand drops to knee drops thrown into handstands... damn.

one guy fell off. that was pretty damn cool. =)

anyway... i have to play freestyle. last time i played (about a year ago), i was too out of shape to keep up with the really hard ones...
but i can't play unless i know i look cool doing it. =D

I've never played nor seen anyone play DDR, I've only heard the music. I know the basic concept of the game, and would enjoy laughing at friends as they played, but no one I know has it :(

Did anyone see that one South Park episode where they recruited this Asian DDR maniac to help them win a dance contest? :D

*was addicted for a few months*. . .The music does get overly boring after a whie. Now I only play it with friends or at an arcade if the there isn't a mass of quarters on the screen...

Kyari> Stepmania is an OpenSource project, you don't have to pay for it :p The only thing you have to get is the dance pad...

Flash> :amazed: she must have a better sense of rythm than you... maybe she used to be a tap dancer, like Yuffie :D

I wish I could play it at home so I could practice, play a video game and get some exercise at the same time, but it's been hard to find a copy of this game for either PC or PS1, bootleg or legit.

games today are taking all the fun outa being a geek or nerd, we now have to dance to win there are games that make us more socible and there is the gameboy game that makes it so you have to go OUT SIDE! i mean realy whats the point in being a geek if we are just like the rest of the world with a bit more free time?

:spin: Dance Dance Revolution was fun ^^
(though I never was very good at it, to be honest - I lacked coordination)
I once had a friend who was completely crazy about videogames, and had to get everything new from Japan...he had all those crazy games with special controlers, like DDR, Popn'Music, Get Bass, Samba de Amigo, that guitar game...the crazier the better
I was amazed that he'd invest so much energy in those games - usually he wasn't the very sporty type.

Anybody hear of Donkey Konga? It's kinda like DDR but for you hands... you can actually clap and it picks it up! haha

If you don't feel like doing a sport for a Physical Education Credit at my school, you can actually do DDR as an outside credit. 80 hours in a semester for a credit. The 9th grade Gym teacher is trying to incorporate it somehow into the curriculum :)

Holy s***t ! I've always been hoping that sometrhing like this would happen in my school ! I guess they're too traditional to even start to think about it seriously. You lucky, Hielark16 !!!

Wow! That sucks Silver. We actually just learned about Hominid evolution. No one really opposes it, except a few zealots in our town. Not to say the only people who oppose Darwin's theories are fanatics, that's just who they are in my town.:ctspekkio:

LOL I remember the first time I tried DDR...I sucked sooo bad..but Ive been practicing everyday now its a really good exercise. I really wish I started exercising sooner for various reasons. But now its a-part of my daily routine. As for the songs try Best Hits or 4th Plus Mix the seem to be good ones. Im still trying to find a working copy of the 4th mix I keep getting the Japanese copies. Sorry to ramble on thanks for reading this dumb post.

We played a bit recently at our place
Once I move in my new appartment, I won't be able to play anymore since I'll be on the first floor (there are ppl in the basement).
But if they get on my nerves... :evillaugh:

Lol, it's been a year since I started playing it. I've been practising regularly all that time, and now I can play really hard songs (up to 9-feet difficulty :spin: )

Stepmania is exacltly what I need to pass my energy on after work ! And it's a really fun game to play with friends ;)

:wonder:yea, for workout music, you basically need hard-hitting euro-dance:lick: music.... nothing else does the job really. Search around on iTunes for "euro club hits" or check this link: http://electricfilebox.com/tracks :tophat:

Heh, I don't use iTunes, so that link simply fails for me.

But, speaking of DDR, I did recently pick up a copy of DDR Supernova 2, with a pad for my sisters, and they get much enjoyment out of it, although they are very competitive, so the older of the two tends to shy away from the game when losing. xD

Ahh DDR! How I <3 that game. I bought Hottest party for the wii a while back and I've lent it to my neighbour right now. But I have three pads for it because the Wii eddition is 4 player! Talk about friggin' sweet!
