View Full Version : Whose FTP servers are actually active?

Seriously, it is quite deceiving. Or maybe I'm not doing something right. Using AceFTP, I'm getting "Connection timed out" on every server, save one. Dhalkar's says, "Unable to resolve host," but that must mean s/he just changed providers. And when using CrystalFTP, I get "500 WinSock something blah (#10060)". I have a wired router, so am I not configuring something correctly? Still, somehow, SOMEHOW I always connect to Celeri.
I see that several people (such as Bamatone and Kilu) are still browsing the forums, so I thought maybe I would ask.

I just haven't had mine turned on in ages. That's not even the correct ip listed for me, heh.
Your best bet these days is to come visit us in the IRC channel and ask. One of us probably has what you want, especially if it was ever a #gamemp3s release. Hell, I'll even turn on my ftp for a few days of leeching if you want. I just don't want it on 24/7 anymore is why I don't activate on the RPGN page.

Haha! Yes indeed, I feel rather ashamed from leeching from Celeri so much.
I am trying to establish a decent collection of well-arranged, well-composed, generally good albums for my own FTP/file sharing purposes. And personally, I would love to get my hands on several albums, whether they're good or not: Death Note OST 1, Welcome to the NHK OST, Blue Dragon, BioShock, Nintendo Sound Select Vol. 1, Super Mario Galaxy, Breath of Fire IV, Chocobo no Fushiniga Dungeon - Cio Vanni Gialli, Parasite Eve II, Resident Evil Perfect Album, SaGa Frontier II, Unlimited SaGa, God of War, and Guitar Hero Bonus Tracks. If you have any of these and are willing to start up your server for a few hours (I'm on ADSL), then I would greatly appreciate it!
It's just easier to assume that all the FTPs are offline and go from there. :p I have my server configured and ready to go really, I just removed the info from the mirror page.
As Bama said, popping in #RPGN channel at irc.magicite.net is your best bet. Of the top of my head I have atleast Blue Dragon, BioShock, (maybe) Nintendo Sound Select 1, BoF4, Chocobo Dungeon-Cio Vanni Gialli, Parasite Eve 2, Saga Frontier 2, Unlimited SaGa and God of War. Maybe more, it's hard to keep track sometimes. :) So, if you happen to come by and I'm around, I can help you out.

That sounds fair, Kilu. I'll be in there as soon as I can install mIRC.
You can also use the java applet chat (http://rpgamers.net/Chat/) on the main page. :)

Mirror27 is now back in action after a bad harddrive crash. Server is back, but beware.... not everything is what it was before! The drive didn't crash in that sense, it got some bad blocks so some files are missing/broken.
However... There's a solution. I actually sent all my VGM to a server of my control for a side project ages ago and forgot about it laying there. Now it's there and I'm running comparison stuff to sync what should be refreshed from the backup... should be taken care of before the end of this week.
Now... Who keeps a backup of their VGM? :wacky:

Now... Who keeps a backup of their VGM? :wacky:Heh, I back up all of my drives, including the vgm drive, to an external hdd about once a month. :tophat:
But that's because you are special.
If my hard drives would fail me now, it would be pretty bad. I don't think I have any music backed up, and very little else. I obviously could re-rip the stuff I own, but that's but a fraction.
I think my facial expression would be fairly close to what my avatar is now.
I even might shed a tear.

my mates harddrive failed last week, he backed up. Seriously kilu it has happeend to me and a few I know and it is a question of when not if. Back up.
I have über luck and nothing of this sort will never ever happen to me! :D
And then again, I really don't have the cash right now to invest on a backup drive. It's the next thing on my list to buy though, external drive, or internal with an external closure.

It's been a very long time since I've posted here. I don't even remember what the address for the Control Panel is anymore.
The reason being that I basically got sick and tired of my server's constant connection problems. So I don't know if users are actually getting on my server or not. I don't know if it's them or if it's my crap happy router, something just didn't connect. Thus, my server has been down for a very long time.
I'll see if I can come back to the fold again whenever I get around to fixing my FTP problems.
As for backing up stuff, I've had enough with with hard drive crashes over a year ago that I started to regularly back up my stuff. I'm up to 14 DVDs right now, going on to 15 very soon.
The CP is at http://www.rpgamers.net/cp/login.php.
I was, at one point, considering backing up to DVDs, but that was before my collection bloated to it's current form. There's just no way. I was also thinking that bluray backups would be great, but it's likely that the prices on the burners and the media won't go down anytime soon. So another hard drive it is.
When I get the money. :p
