Hey all. For those of you who don't know, I have been seeking designs for my webhosting company's logo. I have 5 concepts as designed by a designer, and wanted your opinions. Note these are not final logos, and I can request minor changes, font changes, colour changes, I can mix and match ideas to make one good logo, etc. Please be honest, I need your input.

LOGO A:
http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-A.jpg

LOGO B:
http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-B.jpg

LOGO C:
http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-C.jpg

LOGO D:
http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-D.jpg

LOGO E:
http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-E.jpg

Now, I will share with you my opinions. I asked for a simple logo, with an abstract sort of design and a blue colour scheme. They produced some good and some bad in my eyes. Heres what I see:

LOGO A: Many people seem to like this one for some reason. They feel the curves are unique and catch the eye. Others have mentioned that it sortof blocks the word Lintbox, however as I said, the logo can be tweaked and edited.

LOGO B: L U ? I guess the U was an attempt to make the L also mold into a W but it failed miserably. I don't like the blue or orange shades used.

LOGO C: Try harder, please. I am paying you to make a logo man.

LOGO D: I like how its two strong colours, however what is the box suppose to represent? Whats with the cross for the T? It looks more like a postal mail logo then webhosting.

LOGO E: My personal favourite, simple yet clean. Imagine it without the slogan there, as it will most likely not be part of the final logo. I don't know if I like how webhosting is written, it feels out of place. Maybe a different font? All capitals for the word webhosting? Something is off, and I need opinions to make it right.

Anyways, those are my opinions, but I want YOURS. Please help me by being honest and providing ideas to improve and create a good logo for Lintbox. I have a revision round, and want to be sure it is used wisely. Thanks everyone.

I personaly like D...except for the red tiny red square inside. A is also pretty in it's own right...it looks more like it should be used for a radio station or something of that sort.

B, looks like you're advertising for a college called LU...Lint University Webhosting? C, is of course kinda of bland, but it still stands out >.O

E is pretty and smooth looking, but It's nagging at the back of my head that it look alot like someone elses logo. *thinks real hard* I'm drawing a blank right now...

As for improvements >.O; I'm a horrible artsy person, I feel bad critiquing as it is. I'd haved to say A, D, and possibly E are the best ones.

I like logo D. Nice and bold. Kinda like the old jetblue airways logo from where I get my name. Mabey If you elongate the L on the bottom to under the intbox and then web hosting on bottom.
Good choice on color.
I dont know about that decroative box on the left side. I put my thumb on the screen and it looks better without it.

I like simple almost generic logos. Too bad jetblue airways changed theres. I always thought it was the perfect logo ever created by humans. The small j and b made it come alive.

Many people have said E looks like another logo, but we have yet to pinpoint any logos like it.

Check how each logo looks in black/white and on paper. A would be messy if the greyscale is crappy (ie black and white, no grey). B/C are disqualified due to shadows. I could think of using C if the L on the side is removed. Then you'll have a quite nice logo actually. Simple and powerfull.

E is a little too big I think, with that round thing on it.

Oh yeah; remove the slogan from all of them. You're not including that on all documents are you? That's just silly.

Actually, I think I'll go for D.
Locke, can you pull out the old RPGN-logo? Don't that look a bit like E?

Laban> could think of using C if the L on the side is removed. You've got a point here. Simple and clean (pardon the VGM pun :D )

Logo A makes me think about audition problems, you know, with that ear-shaped waves that spreads from left to right...

Logo B has the very same colors as a French phone service provider :p As everybody said, the LU effect is rather lame...

Logo C : see above

Logo D : I personally don't like all these edges. They don't look nice. You'd think that you would hurt your hands, touching these letters and this sharp-edged logo... Definitely not the right thing for Lintbox, IMO

Logo E looks more like a sportswear brand logo : "Lintbox, just do it !"

I'm not sure which one I woudl choose if I had to make the decision. Maybe the C logo without the "L", with another similar font that looks less megalomaniac.

I also see another option : redesigning the D logo with lighter colors and softer forms. The square would actually look rather smart if it was egg-shaped :)

edit : Wow ! I've had quick inspiration doday :D Here's my idea : I have combined the tall font of logo C with a blue egg-shaped form that approximately does the work of logo E. Tell me what you think...

Zeugma's Prototype 1 looks nice with the light blue ring, reminds of an angel's halo though. The dot for the i on the seconds one just looks kinda funky, no offense of course, your number one just out does it in my opinion.

As for Logo D, I liked it because the Box seemed to stress Lintbox, and I think it could be used by itself as a miniature picture later on for links. I haved to say it's probably my favorite, though when you DO take the L off of C it looks rather nice and bold.

The problem with C is it took no effort to make. I could have designed that myself in a few seconds, its just letters in a clean font. I surely wouldn't have paid a designer had I wanted that. We are currently working with logo E, and I have sent the first set of revision requests away to be worked on.

Thanks to everyone who dropped in their opinion.

Popped into my mind instantly. Though I'm quite sure there is some logo that looks even more like that. Who is this dsigner anyway, doing so halfassed job.

Second one that popped into my head.

Basicly, I don't think E is very unique. But if the changes you are planning for it are good, maybe it will get better.

I never said I wanted total uniqueness. I specified to the designer I wanted a simple, clean logo that fits well on business cards etc. I asked for no funny pictures or anything, just a small abstract something or other, and thats what he produced. You can't blame the designer when he didn't have a lot to work with, hell I didn't even have an idea in mind. Its simple enough its going to look somewhat like other logos, just because there isn't much to it. Its the name of the company with a curve around it. However, that may be all I need. We'll see how things are after the first revision.

:D My two cents.

A.I initially like this one, until I notice the letters are obscured by the symbol, and that the symbol itself is so far left. All the resulting empty space on the right throws the balance off, in my opinion. Could be worth tweaking. :)

B.This is one is just ugly, imo. :p

C.Ick. This one is even worse then B - too much red. Burn it and demand a refund. :p

D.I like the way the t is crossed in this one, but I'd lose the square and I'd change the color scheme from red to green or something... but that's just me. :)

E.This one is okay, but it might be a bit too plain. Is there any way you could shift the halo over some? Maybe make it part of the letter o in Lintbox?

Zeugma prototypes: I actually like both of these, especially the color scheme. The undotted i looks better. :spin:

From my point of view, usually non unique equals boring. Boring usually doesn't get my attention. Non unique will easily drown in the masses, when unique is easily noticable. Simple and clean logo can be unique too.

From those I would take D with different colors, that bright red almost hurts my eyes. And I would loose the box. Or maybe one could replace the letter 'o' with a smaller box or something. It is afterall, Lintbox.

E also looks like the 989 sports logo
http://205.209.144.11/hosting/userfiles/Kiata/989.jpg http://205.209.144.11/tmp/Logo-E.jpg

the oval goes the other way, but its still very similar.

I like Zeugma 440's prototype 2. Good color and the dot on the eye is a good touch. Would look good on your company stationary or official rubberstamp.

Wheee more. These ones seem a bit more impressive...or at least more inspired.

Alrighty.
F) I like it! It's nice and soft, but it still has your square box! Think it looks pretty nice!

G) S'okay...I personaly think X-box when I see it. It's small enough to work on alot of scales, but y'know gamers are going to see "box" and then a large X...

H) That 'sposed to be a computer?

I) I like it :D The contrasts are cool!

J)¬_¬ Blah...doesn't really relate to anything if ya ask me.

K) Personaly I like the design 'cause it looks great. And the font is awsome...it would work. But personaly I don't think it fits. Better than J!!

L) Now this looks sleek and much better than the orignal circley doo-dad. Though I'm with Kilu...on the boring earlier. Though this look much nicer! It's still using the nice font too! Much better than E.

Out of all of these...I think F looks the best for buisness card style advertisement. If you were to make something like that og course. Though I keeps catching my eye everytime I scroll down. >.O; I can't decide.

I think I like F or G the most.

Logo F is perfect.
How about taking that box and moving it to the right and take one of the 2 lines and have them crisscross like a X over the box and use that instead of the x you have now. Either way its perfect.

I think F, some of the others make it look a bit like lintbo at first glance. :)

Logo F : :shades: Now that's a great logo ! I'd go for this one :spin:

Logo G : As Kaze said, it immediately reminds me of X-Box :D

Logo H : ewww... way too massive. This black monolith evokes nothing good, IMO

Logo I : *shrugs* not too bad... not to great either...

Logo J : What's the deal with the atoms ? I don't get it....

Logo K : :wonder: I'd say the same as before about the edges. This one looks too sharp to be Lintbox's logo...

Logo L : It could be a toy's logo :D Interesting but a bit too complex IMO

I like the K one. But I don't know how it would work on black and white faxes and whatnots.

F also looks quite nice.

G reminds me of XBox or Direct X. Or both. The X in the end that is.

Rest I have no comments on.

Okay, there seems to be a common interest in F.

Any suggestions for improvements? I can have it revised/tweaked as I see fit. I think the letters for Lintbox might use a bit more boldness, I'm not sure. Open for comments.

:D I like K and then G, which didn't remind me of Xbox, but does now that everyone has mentioned it. ;)

[EDIT]You replied right as I did. :p What would F look like with the box between Lint and box?

I quite like G myself. It just looks kinda intriguing and professional. I also liked Zeugma's efforts.

EDIT: I notice so far we've only been discussing the logos shown. But if you're paying this guy, let's make him work. :p

Now my take on this is that a logo defines your business, and needs to be memorable. let's test. How many seconds does it take you to remember the following companies logos?

Mercedes
Ferrarri
Fosters (beer, presume you have it)
Windows
Mars (the chocolate bar)
X-box

etc etc. I could go on, was gonna hunt down some logo pics and see how quick you could name them. Anyways, these logos are stuck in your memory like it or not. What you need to look at is why? And how can you make your lintbox logo as memorable. You're going for something simple, which can work, let's face it the mecerdes logo is pretty simple, yet easily recognizable. People have said that some of the logos remind them of pentium or xbox or whatever, so you can see how they can instantly recognize a logo and put a company name to it. So ask your designer to tweak (or create anew) a logo that fits your specifications whilst still being recognizable.

Oh and the slogan is good. :)

i think you should drop the webhosting from the bottom and expand the lintbox to fit the height it used to take up. (while preserving the aspect ratio, that is.)
...then make it bold like the lettering in K and L. it's good logo feng shui. =)

Zeugma 440

You should keep "webhosting", because it looks professional, and indicates with a single word what kind of business you're running.

I'm not sure about putting the box in the middle of the word :wonder: Losing Lintbox for Lint :present: box looks less esthetic. You'll transform your brand name into two weaker words...

As for boldness, it could be bolder, but you should not change the font ! I think this one fits perfectly !

I chose logo F, and left it as is. I would have continued to push the logo designer, but I've already spent too much time working with the logo. I have certain deadlines to meet, and alas, they don't allow me to do things such as mess with logos. I need the logo completed so I can begin my advertising campaign on time.

In the future I can always have the logo revised if Lintbox takes off. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions.

I prefer F, K, and L. Overall better than the last batch.

F has nice lettering, ovaly doodads, and a little cube. It's somewhat cute, but is definitely a simple company logo. I think this could be a finalist.

K is pretty good, it just need something done with the gray colored half-oval "slash". I don't know what, exactly. Perhaps it could be removed or replaced completely? I'm afraid removal might make it too boring, but it just might work. Any ideas for changes?

L is a better version of E. I like it plenty. Could be a final contender.

Edit: Oops, I'm too late. Oh well, F is a fine choice
